I kept having creaks coming from my bottom bracket. Found out that the OEM sram preload screw had backed out. I went to tighten it down on the trail and it snapped as its made out of nylon/plastic. Installed this one and have not had any issues so far. I will likely just put this on all of my bikes going forward. The install was straight forward and fairly quick (less than 30 minutes and the majority of that time was getting my chain guide and cranks on/off the bike).

Works perfectly, bought my second as soon as I installed my first. Why SRAM and Raceface don't make their spacers out of metal is a serious engineering mistake. Prior to finding this replacement, I resorted to jamming zip ties or twist ties between the crank arm and the crappy stock plastic spacer so that the plastic spacer would stay in place. Mine came without instructions - went to the Cane Creek website it didn't explain how to remove the gold-colored threaded ring for 30mm spindles - twisted a flat head screwdriver in the slit and it fell out.

Installation requires loctite “gluing” one of the rings to your crank , the tolerances are way to big for this to happen. However, I was able to easily adjust the slack/play in my crank and hasn’t worked loose. This is a great replacement for the plastic insult sent out by Spesh on a $4500 bike. The materials are of high quality , great craftmenship, just need a tighter tolerance on inner ring.

I added the preloaded to set of Easton cranks and it fits great. the machined alloy is a tiny bit thinner than the original plastic part so it added a 0.5mm spacer. Easton/RaceFace should have a quality part like this as original equipment for the price the crankset. I happy Cane Creek made it.

The device comes with a gold-colored threaded insert, 30mm I.D. and a silver one 29mm for Sram DUB crank spindles. I needed this for my Specialized fat bike. The silver part was what I wanted but it was too small for the spindle. The gold part fitted but didn't have as much thread as the silver one, and it didn't have a flange that would have been much better. It would be a good idea if both silver and gold parts were identical in shape even if not in size. It did the job but not to my satisfaction. My fat bike needed another 7mm of spacers to go with this preloader for the total 17mm space between the bearing and the crank to be filled.

As with most things Cane Creek, really well machined and beautifully made product. Used to replace the cheap plastic preload ring on the SRAM X0 cranks, installed easily and adjusted precisely. After a handful of rides, adjustment is still true and everything is solid. Much better made alternative to the factory preload ring and, while it doesn't get much visibility, much better looking as well.

I couldn’t agree more with the other positive reviews. This is a high quality metal replacement for the weak plastic part that ships with even the most expensive cranks. Two rides on it so far and my crank has never been so silent and secure.Well worth the cost.

This needed to exist. I appreciate Cane Creek taking the time to craft this. It is a day and night improvement over the OEM (weak plastic) BB preloader that Race Face provides (seen cracked in the photos I've attached). It look and feels perfectly made. The gold ring is not used when paired with Raceface Cinch cranks, this keeps it subtle and classy. This is something that even if only you know you have, will make you feel more secure and confident about your improved setup.
