Its easy to set up and the print quality is fine. Though I have to say, this printer feels like the materials are cheaper and fragile compared to my old one.

The most important think to know installing this printer is that the SYNCH TIME can be longer than a few minutes. Don’t panic during setup thinking a faster response and acknowledgement should be received. My setup on my iPad must have take at least 5 minutes

Worked great for a bit then abruptly stopped working. Followed all of the instructions online and through tutorials to fix and I am very tech literate. Even downloaded the bad software to try to detect the issue. Still can't get this to work again. Do not buy this

I like that I can print from anywhere in my home, dislike the printer switches off after some time

Good overall, don't know if ink will be expensive on long term

*Update: I take my review from below, back....I've dropped it from 4 stars to 1....after a month or so of occasional use, the scan utility stopped working, and then the wireless stopped working. Even on a direct connect, I'm only able to print text. So disappointed in Canon, after having my previous ones working flawlessly for so long, it appears the quality has dramatically been reduced in these later models. So glad I didn't spring for a more expensive model - I would be even more upset. Nice that it just fell out of the return window too. After spending an hour proving the problem was not my laptops or desktops at fault, my frustration with this thing almost made me want to take it out in the street, and run my truck over it a few times. If you get one of these, hopefully yours lasts....this one soured me on Canon. Looks like I'll have to go back to an Epson. This is a nice little printer for general use. An OK price for a printer (since we ALL know it's the ink these companies are making big bucks from). This one can do most of what you'll need for light duty work. Scanning is basically, just OK. I notice the prints following a scan are not as sharp or clear as they should be. Photos....if that's what you're wanting to print, check a higher end model. This one doesn't do photos very well. I've worked in IT development and test for years, and validated installation procedures on a lot of products, and this one's setup could use better instructions for its Wi-Fi setup. They tell, and show you all the great benefits of Wi-Fi printing....uh, sure, we know the benefits...but where are the instructions to SET IT UP? If you guess, set it up to print from your phone, then you win a cookie...and you will be prompted for your network. You will get a setup CD along with the unit, but the instruction stream is online, and it will unzip the applications for this particular printer, which is nice. It doesn't give you choices on what you don't want to install, it downloads it all on your PC. I prefer to choose what to install, not be forced to clog my system with unwanted software I'll never use. One thing to note about this little printer, is that it does not print quietly. I've got 3 Canon printers, and this one is the smallest, and the loudest. I do like the one-button copy, and ink cartridge replacement is a breeze. I've had HP and Epson printers, and they've caused me headaches, jams, roller issues, Wi-Fi failures, etc., but my Canons keep on going. This one has a USB connection on it for direct connection if desired (does not include a USB cable, so plan on buying one if that's your preference). I also prefer front paper loading, since it takes up less space, but this one only has top loading, so you'll need more desk space for this unit. Still, a decent printer.

Love that its affordable and easy to set up (once you hit the WPS BUTTON on your wifi to connect it). It prints documents just fine, the speed is quick and noise is minimal. I'm being super picky because I came from a Canon pixma, but ideally, would not recommend this printer for high quality photos. The photo prints are decent enough for a casual display (like a picture frame or family parties,) but for anything better, go to CVS to have them printed instead, will save you ink and be better quality.

was worried bc of reviews and the price however this printer surprised me on how well it works. it was easy to set up, just follow the instructions on the pamphlet and it connects. I used photo paper and printed out some art prints and the quality looks really good. when printing with plain paper, there is one issue. there appear to be lines present when printing with paper and they are somewhat visible but not a big deal for me so I just ignore it but that is something to look out for. overall like it

Color printing is no good. Right side of the paper support is broken, have to find a way to fix it otherwise it falls off easily and will not be able to hold any paper. I will use it mainly for black and white printing and scanning - both appear to work pretty well. So I guess I've got what I paid for.

So I have owned Canon Printers my whole adult life. I love them for their print quality and the fact that I can feed all different kinds of paper through them. I love the top loading inexpensive photo quality ones. BUT....this printer is not plug and play. Just pass along if you are not savvy enough to spend the 3 hours to get it to connect to your home network. Sheesh!! What happened to plug and play? My last Canon got ousted by Windows 10. They no longer had a driver and it was just getting tired anyway. The repairs would have cost at least triple what this new one did so I opted for a similar type model. I have 6 computers on a home network and wow, I am not computer stupid and this thing was a pain. I went through their on computer tutorial and a YouTube video and finally their entire diagnostics before it finally connected to my Router. My 2 other Brother printers were WAY easier. I don't know why Canon can't figure out how to be more user friendly. So here are the Pros:It has a top feeder so that you can feed cardstock and Photo paper and it won't jam the rollers like a bottom tray feeder. It is inexpensive. It has 2 cardtridges that are relatively inexpensive, print nicely, and you only have to buy two of them instead of 4 (for certain printers who have the 4 color model and they are still 25 dollars each). The quality of the color is very nice.It is light weight and so moving it around to get to cables etc. is not a chore.Con:THE SET UP IS A MONSTER -if you are a little older than the new tech generation, then this is not for you.None of my Canon printer cartridges have ever been able to be refilled. It just does not like it and gets really fussy. I don't use this as my only printer. I use a Brother laser jet at 3 cents a page for my standard essay, shopping, and printing needs, so this does not really bother me because when I actually print from my Canon it is because I want a real quality product (either a photo, a professional program brochure, gift design, etc) and so I don't go through but just a couple sets of cartridges a year. What users manual!!?? The english section is 6 total pages. 4 of them tell you how to pull off the orange packing tape and load the cartridges and paper. The other 2 just tell you to go online to download the driver and connect to your computer (page 5) or your phone (page 6). There is no real information that is helpful. I don't even know why they bothered to send it. (I can figure out how to pull off the orange tape and click in a cartridge!!) Really six pages to just tell you to go online. Ugh!!Overall, now that I got the thing installed, I am happy with it. Since I don't have to install again unless I change my network, I think it will be smooth sailing. The print quality is great and I am happy with the printer itself. I had a hard time finding a printer with an upper tray feeder that would do photos and cardstock. I would purchase it again but I just wanted to caution those for whom installation would not be easy. My parents would have been very frustrated and likely sent it back. If you are over 55 or not even a little tech savvy, then go for something else if you don't mind a bottom tray paper loader. There are lots of great Brother Printers with bottom tray loaders, they just struggle with heavy paper. I only took off one star because the printer itself is really great. Maybe it is simply that I have such a large home network that made it fussy. My router is fairly new and made for my large home network so I am truly unsure why the printer and router would not communicate. Once I finally got the printer to send signals right, my router picked it up. The i button prints a page that lets you know if you are connected and gives you the printer password incase you had to tell your router how to find the printer in a round about way. I finally got it to wps after holding the signal button on the printer for 3 seconds and pushing the wps on my router. I did this about 20 times and finally it worked. You have to connect the printer to your network and then the computer to the pinter otherwise your computer just says that it can't find the printer on your network. Anyway, between the installation prompts and just plain ole messing around and using the online help, I finally got it to connect. Great little printer, bad setup method.
