The battery tester is very simple to use. I always test my battery with each oil change so that I can replace it before I’m stranded somewhere. Along with testing the battery, you can do a cranking and charging test. Your battery will show it’s cranking amps so you can use this tester to see what the battery is actually putting out. You have instructions in the manual but the system pretty much tells you what to do. The one gripe I have is the length of the cord. In order to do the charging test, you need to idle the car over 2500rpm for 10 seconds. The cord is around 3 foot long but not long enough to have in the car with me while doing the test. It’s not really a big deal because you can of course count while doing the test and you technically don’t need the tester with you. I like the fact that you have the option to print the results. Overall this is a nice little tester. It has a solid feel and the screen is nice and bright. I plan on gifting this tester.

Accurately tested several batteries that were known to be good or bad. The unit is powered from the battery being tested so there are no batteries within the unit to replace or fail. The charging and starting tests provided useful information and the level of detailed battery performance info was helpful. This is a good tool to have prior to the winter season to identify a weak battery before it fails completely.

I used this tool on several batteries throughout a couple of weeks. I only got to use it on 12V battteries, but I have no doubt the results would have been the same on 6V or 24V systems had I had the opportunity to work on them. The keystrokes were minimal to get the test rolling. I really liked how the CCA value could be moved in larger increments as well as smaller steps. My $1200 brand name tool makes me go in 5 amp steps. A pain when going from one end of the scale to the other. The results were quick to display, faster than my expensive tool and more information was displayed about battery condition on this BT500.I used it on the charging and starting modes as well and found it equally easy to use and results were in line with my other tool for reference.I am very happy with this meter and especially so when I consider the cost of this tool vs the one I have been using at work. If you need a battery, alternator and starter test tool, I think you will be happy with this one.

Still trying to figure out how it does what it does, however it seems to be a digital upgrade to the old school testers that would get hot and pull huge amps. I tested it on three batteries I knew the condition of and it seemed to be dead on accurate with the diagnostic on each battery. The starter current tester was a good feature too. Good clean easy to navigate menus. Hopefully it is durable and lasts as I see us using it every day.

For the money the BT500 battery load tester is a good Compact Battery tester for the home DIYer. This tool is simple to use, and easy to read. The leads have strong spring retention to maintain a good connection. Just clamp the leads to the positive and negative battery posts. The tool automatically powers on. This tool is compatible with 12, and 24 volt systems. Choose either car, or motorcycle. Follow the prompts to select your battery type, and CCA to test. You can perform a voltage test, charging test, load test, CCA value test, and resistance test. It displays state of charge/health, the current battery voltage, and a voltage waveform. It is quick, and easy to set up for a simple test in the field. You can store previous tests to download, and print via the USB C cable provided. You get free updates as well. Download the free software from vdiagtool.com, and connect to your PC with the provided USB C cable. You will also be able to power the unit with the USB C cable to run diagnostics for the battery tester itself. This tool has the same form factor as the VDIAGTOOL VD30 Pro Car Code Reader. This battery tester is a great addition to my emergency mobile tool kit.

Edit: changed rating from 1 star to 3 because the seller reached out to me to offer refund, and made sure they took care of the problem very quickly. So seller excellent, product still bad.Total garbage, tested against the $600 tester we use in the shop and it was off by 200CCA. If not for the $20 tester I got from Walmart being within 10CCA accuracy of the tester at work I wouldn't have been surprised it was off, but if the cheaper one can be that accurate there's no excuse this should be off by as much as it is, embarrassingly inaccurate. the device itself, very cheap. I would expect this quality in the $20-30 range, not in the full price over $50 category. It's really light and the plastic feels thin, the screen is terrible in dark lighting, it's very bright and the cheap display with the bright colors is almost disorienting to look at the menu for more than a few seconds. It has a USB-C jack on the bottom for what I don't know, I thought it had a battery but it powers off as soon as unplugged making it pointless if it's powered when connected to a battery. Probably going to get one from a brand I trust, figured I'd take a chance with this one. Would not recommend.
