Didn’t work that great for me , seemed very time consuming, ended up getting diamond blade for my right angle grinder

I grew up in a construction family. I was a licensed commercial contractor. I’ve been involved in construction work of various kinds for about fifty years. I’m in the process of repairing a serious crack in the brick siding of a house. I’m removing and replacing the bricks. I had really high hopes for these mortar / grout cutter bits but I find them almost worthless. First because of the shape you can’t really drill directly into the mortar. Okay, I could live with that. I don’t mind drilling a starter hole if the bit would actually cut the mortar but it is ridiculously difficult. I actually did better just using the same bit I used to drill the starter hole. In other words these bits don’t cut at all. You have to pressure them sideways to get any results at all and those results are barley better than nothing. The picture showing the the mortar removed around the half brick took over an hour. I tried it with a hammer drill, and two different variable speed drills. I’m serious here, these bits are not as effective as a regular masonry bit.These bits do not work in normal mortar or grout.My rating system:5 stars..... Very good, recommended.4 stars..... The BRSCHNITT Carbide Brick Mortar Grout Cutter - 10 * 25mm (3/8 * 1 Inch) Mortar Raking Bit for Hand Electric Drill Mortar Cutter Hex Shank (2pcs) cuts through and cleans out mortar joints very good. I used a Dewalt 20V 3-speed Hammer Drill to drive this bit and it did a great job. I found that feeding it into the mortar fairly slow works best and to keep a firm guiding hold on the drill. It will kick back and can go off course if it hits aggregate so, feeding it slowly through a joint is wise. The cutting edges seem to hold up pretty well which I am very happy with since I still have a lot of re-tucking and brick replacement to perform. I'm very satisfied with the BRSCHNITT Carbide Brick Mortar Grout Cutter and consider them an excellent value!
