Perfect for my main use case, reading nautical charts in often dimly-lit situations. Three illumination levels, very well "spaced" in intensity. If you find it challenging to read such print as the customer service phone number on the back of a credit card then this may be a great addition to your desk or night table.I'm so pleased with this magnifier that I'm ordering a few more to give as gifts to friends and family members with vintage eyeballs.

I recommend for people who has problems seeing to go ahead and buy this Magnifier. My husband wishes that the handle was a little longer so he can graved it better. Thanks

Based on the 65mm or 2.5" diameter top lens and the non adjustable factory focus setting this is designed primarily for reading small print rather than as a loupe used close to the eye. Best focus is achieved when the magnifier base is against the item being examined and the eye about 10" or so above the top lens so it is used more like a magnifying glass than a loupe. Attempted use with the eye close to the lens causes items to be out of focus and the focus is not adjustable other than by lifting the magnifier away from the item being examined. The illumination works well and I expect the three AAA batteries to last for a long time due to large capacity compared to coin cells.Decent optical quality with minimal distortion if used as noted. If you want a similar relatively low power large loupe style magnifier designed for use close to the eye then get the Carson LumiLoupe Plus 6x Power Focusable Stand Loupe Magnifier (LO-06).

Bought for elderly person who has extremely bad eyesight i.e. cataracts and macular degeneration. Helps her a lot , easy to use and the LED light is a real bonus making things extra clear. Would recommend.

This is a good solid magnifier. Uses AAA batteries, is large enough to fit in your hand without being too large. Ordered this for my mother whose eye are failing her. After using it for a couple of months she asked if I could get her a second one, so that she would have one to carry around with her and one to keep at the house. I happily brought her the second one, she said it is the best one that she has used or seen so far.

The unit is sturdy, secure, and well lit when the batteries are in it.The grips are a nice touch, and are where your fingers are logically placed (for both left and right handed individuals). The magnification is high quality, with little aberrations along the edges; what I have come to expect from Carson.

Excellent magnifier with three different light intensities; optimum viewing of stamps, coins and other small objects; extremely useful for press checks and proofing printed materials; and a myriad of other uses where clear, well lighted viewing is necessary or desirable.

I am legally blind with 9% vision in my left eye and 5% vision in my right eye. My normal need for magnification is 4x to 6x, so this 5x product fits my needs.I am a number cruncher by trade, deal with a lot of small print, and the Carson LumiLoupe is one of the finest products I have ever used as it has noticeably improved my productivity. It's a combination hands-on, hands-free magnifier. The casing feels of high quality, it glides over the pages effortlessly, the magnification is clear and concise, and the lighting evenly illuminates the page. There is a tiny bit of distortion around the very outer edge, but this is barely noticeable and does not affect my reading ability in any way. The glass is high quality and the casing protects the bottom glass area.I have never bought from this company before but I will gladly investigate their other products.Oh, and shipping was free and fast. My estimated delivery was Nov 17-24 and it arrived on Nov 12!

> really good weight and balance, thought it might be a little light since appearance of plastic in photos, but this is a nicely constructed instrument> lighting is even and consistent with no shadowing> viewing size is very good for viewing stamps> the 3-level adjustable light is very convenient... didn't think brightness variability would be needed but helps with viewing glossy or flat print stamps> the balance and side grips allow scope to be lifted slightly (~1/2") and retain focus to zoom in and view high level details like stamp perforation consistency. This was a little more difficult for me to do with a regular magnifying glass attached to a handle> small Crown Royal bag works great for storage :)
