Initially this seemed to be great, installed well BUT I have used for 4 months now with nothing but problems of it leaking constantly!! So frustrating this did not have no warranty. Junk. Do not buy

The OEM fuel pump on my 1978 International Scout II 196 4 cylinder was weak, so I got this for its replacement. Carter is an old brand with an excellent reputation. The old pump was easy to remove with a regular socket, extension, and 3/8" ratchet. This pump has a slightly larger body which blocked access to the bolt head and the socket had to be angled to get on the bolt. I had to use a 1/4" drive 12 point flex socket and a long extension to tighten the inside bolt. I held the socket on the bolt and my helper turned the ratchet. It was very slow going. But, other than that, the fuel lines fit and it works. It is made in Mexico.

I own a 1979 Scout Ii with 345 V8. I purchased and installed two of these fuel pumps in the past 4 months and both leak oil from the weep hole in the diaphragm. Poor quality control. I understand Carter made a defective batch of these pumps. I’m now faced with finding another manufacturer. Update: I installed a US Motorworks part number USMP 17398 and it works perfectly with no leaks. Don’t buy the Carter pump.

Easy two-bolt install. Came with two gaskets (one is a spare). No leaks after one try!

This was the Fuel pump I needed for my 1971 IHC 345. The pump I bought from the local store was the wrong one but this one worked great.
