I was a catcher when I played recreational baseball as a kid, but I never had heard of this type of thumb guard. How I wish I knew then what I know now, because I might not have gotten injured trying to catch my younger brother's amazingly fast pitching...! This small device fits over the thumb but is slim enough to allow the thumb to still fit into the catcher's mitt. I can't tell you how badly my hand stung after playing a whole game; check this out and save yourself some pain!

A little bulky for my teen but she likes using it for practice. It takes away some of her confidence so she opts out of using it for games. Her thumb feels better and not as sore during practice when using. For the current price of $19 I feel is a little high but worth it.

The thumb guard does provide protection, but because it is made of solid rubber, it is very sweaty.

Unfortunately we have not been able to use this for our ten year old catcher because of the size of the guard. However, this should work great for older catchers and those with large hands. It is comfortable on my adult hand and should slide into a catchers mitt very easily. It is a nice quality and will hold up well.

I purchased this for my catcher grandson. He was very excited to receive this. He said it works great, no more sting while catching. Highly recommend.
