It was pretty much a plug and play...the only problem was with the little blue boot connections to the coils; they were too long and had to be trimmed to get good contact with the terminals, but not a difficult operation. Engine started right up and seems to be running fine. Only a lake test will tell me the true story! I have been hunting down electrical problems for a while and this is my final step...maybe should have been my first! A 4.5 would be more accurate as the only real problem was the boot trimming, although overall performance has yet to be truly tested!

Lost spark on my bottom cylinder on my 87 johnson 40 changed coil and still nothing, power pack I thought, I was right, back to 27 kts! Perfect fit, all colors of the wires are the same only thing that's different is the rubber on the connectors are blue not black.

Worked perfectly with my 1988 Johnson 8 hp Seahorse. I wasn't getting spark and figured it was the CDI. An oem replacement was over $150.00 so I took a chance on this aftermarket one. Engine runs flawless now, cranks easier and I'm getting upto 17 mph on a 12 ft aluminum boat.

I replaced this unit on my 93 Johnson 25hp and it worked great, was easy to install too. my outboard had no spark whatsoever and now it is a great running engine. I was worried that I had bigger electrical issues, but this was an easy and relatively inexpensive fix that I could do myself.

had weak spark, tried replacing coils, that did not fix weak spark. This bolted on and fixed weak spark, Now it starts easy and runs great.
