Being a DC motor, it uses much less electricity than AC fans and this is also why it is so incredibly quiet.We replaced a standard fan which made a loud humming sound which we could hear in the room above where the fan was installed.In the description, they allude to the fact that this fan is easy to install. This is very far from the truth. My wife and I spent 4 hours installing it and the instructions were not that easy to follow.Once installed, it looks great and works great.
