We frequently order ramen from a nearby Japanese restaurant, and while I like their food, the utensils they provide leave a bit to be desired. I picked up some better reusable chopsticks a while back, but when I saw these soup spoons, I had to get them. They're much better than the flimsy plastic things that the restaurant always sends with our order (not to mention reusable, and therefore better for the environment). These spoons are ceramic but don't feel particularly fragile (I mean, I wouldn't want to drop one or be too rough with it, but they're fine for normal use). They have some noticeable heft to them, and they sit well in a ramen bowl. The designs are distinctive (they actually kind of remind me of Portuguese tile, which is maybe a little odd for Japanese spoons, but its fine).Important to me, I'm able to run them through the dishwasher, and I've seen no sign of any adverse effects.Overall, I've been very happy with these. Recommended!

These are really nice soup spoons. I like that they are uniquely painted. They are a bit fragile though. My daughter was going to carry a few from the kitchen table to the sink to wash, and dropped one on the table and the handle cracked off. We were able to repair it, Crazy Glue for the win! I wouldn't put these in the dishwasher, I really don't see a reason for that. I would rather just wash them by hand. They are easy enough to wash. It is hard to find a deep enough soup spoon, but I've finally found them.

This set of six ceramic soup scoops are of amazing quality and design. Each individual spoon has a different cobalt blue pattern which are attractive and vivid. The spoons are surprisingly deep and the perfect size for noodles and wontons. When having guests over for dinner, I also use them as serving scoops for rice and curries and have received complimentson how eye-catching they are.

These spoons have all been hand decorated in beautiful blue colors and 6 patterns. They are larger than most of the soup spoons I have seen in the Asian market. They are porcelain, not plastic, and have a very balanced feel to them. The bowl of the spoon is large enough for soups and noodles, and you get six beautiful patterns. I'm going to buy sets of these for my friends for Christmas presents next year, they are so lovely and looks so expensive. I would highly recommend these.

So, apparently western soup spoons are not ideal for eastern cultures with soups regularly on the menu. Our metal western spoons tend to be a bit too shallow, and the metal holds heat too well. So it is no wonder that many relocated folks from the east still have a preference for their traditional ceramic spoons. They do not heat as readily, they can hold more soup, and make eating the soup a bit less messy.I was very pleased when I opened the box and saw the spoon set, each with a different cobalt blue glaze design. They are very pretty and made well, and are even rather stackable within our traditional western 'silverware' drawer organizers. They come enclosed in a foam block, with added thin pockets of foam around each individual spoon. And good thing too, because our package was imply tossed over our fence into our yard. But the spoons survived untarnished. I believe tonight we're having beet soup...

Many moons ago, as a child, my aunt brought a soup bowl with spoon from Japan for me. The bowl broke fairly early on but i held onto to the spoon for over 30 years until it too broke. When I saw this beautiful set I couldn't resist ordering them. They arrived very well packed. Not one spoon had been damaged.Beautiful designs, the bold bright blue against the stark white background is stunning.Comfortable to hold and eat with.I'm very, very happy with these spoons and will be looking for bowls to match!

These spoons are a very attractive addition to any kitchen. There is a small hole in the handles so they can be hung under shelves or they will also look great in a glass display case. These spoons can be for every day use, but they are beautiful enough to save for special occasions.

Picked these up to replace another set of Japanese style spoons which had bowls a little too deep and narrow for easy use. While these outwardly look the same, happy to report that they don't function the same - soup with or without dumplings or other contents is no issue to eat without spilling, which was never quite mastered with the other ones. These spoons themselves are nicely painted, the coloring being vibrant but not over the top. No defects in paint or structure were noted and they went through the dishwasher just fine. They were very securely packed, impressively so; hard to imagine them getting damaged in shipping with the form fitting foam that was included. Overall no concerns at all and will happily use them going forward.
