After spending big$$ at my local chain saw shop to get my 455 Rancher dialed in, they would return it to me claiming they fixed it. They didn’t (2 times). I watched the Chicanic on UTube, bought this and learned how to set the low, high and idle RPM’s correctly.

I requested this verify rpm's on an engine I was working on. It served that purpose. I did not install it permanently. It was a good value for my purpose. Installation was easy, and it uses a common battery that still is functional.

This is essential for diagnosing and tuning small engines. I have always followed manuals and This will help me keep my items in specifications. I found the clamp to be very convenient compared to ones that you wrap a wire around the item you're testing.

Make sure you read the description completely before ordering items. The pictures showed this being used with large motors and in particular a boat which was my plan. I noted 4 stroke engines and thought I was good to go. Hooking it up (easy) I was getting clearly inaccurate readings. Reading the directions fully they not for 2 cylinder engines not 4. Will keep playing with it. Also the rubber o-ring was backed out when I opened it. Make sure you loosen the battery cover and tuck it back in.

I use this on my Norwood portble sawmill with a 14hp Kohler engine (single cylinder). It helps me ensure the blade is at the right speed since sometimes the throttle gets out of adjustment and won't get to full speed. With this, I can always be sure the blade is at the optimal speed.

Easy to use- no wiring hookup needed. Just hold it close to the plug wire and it gives you the engine rpm. I’ve used it on my chainsaws, lawn mower and string trimmers. Good value for the money.

This little tachometer works fine for small engines, I'm using it on my generator to make sure the recommended 3200 RPM's are maintained when under load.
