Back to the Tang-Dynasty China (618-907), Zen Buddhists prepared matcha by roasting and pulverizing the tea leaves, then brewing the resulting tea powder in hot water. The Song Dynasty (960-1279) saw the development of matcha being prepared from steam-dried leaves, which were ground into fine powder then whipped up with hot water. This process soon became a key part of Zen Buddhists daily ritual as they realized the meditational benefits of matcha.
In 1191, this ritual of preparing and consuming the powdered tea was brought to Japan by Japanese Zen Buddhist Myōan Eisai.

Although this was not the best matcha I’ve ever tried, I still enjoyed it! This matcha has a mild and slightly nutty flavor, was not bitter, and paired nicely with a little maple syrup and oat milk. I loved the convenience of the pull-tab opener. The matcha made me feel focused yet very calm.

This matcha is wonderful and so underrated and I love the fact that it’s organic. The color is gorgeoussss. Overall it’s smooth, creamy, and has a great balanced flavor. I love whisking it with some honey!

This matcha is excellent! It's a bright bright green and when whisking smells very fresh and vegetal. Almost nori like. I cold whisk 4g of match with a small amount of milk and it blended easily into a fine airy emulsion. The taste is smooth with no bitter aftertaste straight out of the chawan and when poured over the additional milk for a latte it is perfection.
