A more manageable vine that grows only to the size of its support structure. Very twining habit. Good for growing on a fence or wall. Small palm-shaped leaves with purple flower clusters in early summer. Zones 4-8. Yes, the fruit of the chocolate vine is edible. The fruit has a mild, slightly sweet flavor and a texture similar to coconut. The pulp can be eaten raw, often with lemon juice, or used in various recipes. The young shoots and leaves can also be used in salads or pickled.

Plant arrived with no leaves and roots sticking out from bottom of pot. Looks more dead than alive. I sprayed it with water, and new leaves appeared. I’ll take a chance and keep it, hopefully it will survive.

I could not believe how well the vine was packaged. It was better than I could have imagined. I replanted in a bigger pot immediately, the vine grows quickly and shot up the trellis. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for some vine coverage.

I have ordered a great many live plants through Amazon and have been very happy. Not with this order.Plants look sickly and are not thriving

Trouble keeping these alive. When I transplanted a week after receiving they barely had any roots.

Its always scary ordering plants online. So I was nervous! I tried ordering the same plant last year from a different company and it got sent back before I got it due to damage. This one was wrapped very nicely!! After I removed it from the box and took off the perfectly wrapped bubble wrap, I set it in the sun and after about an hour the vines and leaves were already starting to reach out! Its a beautiful green and not dried out at all. I cant wait to get it planted. Will try to update with pictures.

The vines arrived in great condition! They were a nice size so it was easy to plant them and watch them take off. Most of them have grown well and look great. There are a couple that haven't grown but I think that is due to the location I planted them. I am going to dig them up and move them. Once they are moved, I have no doubt they will grow just fine! I plan to order more from this company again next spring.

Arrived promptly and in good condition. Growing like a "weed." Very healthy plants. Fast grower and seem happy in the shade garden.

Don't know if it is the location (tried two places with two plants), inadequate light, or if the plants just need to be older but this first year they haven't done a whole lot. One disappeared entirely under the morning glory (THAT thrives, unfortunately) and the other spread maybe two feet up a trellis. No flowers. The leaves are fairly sparse. I'll give them (it?) another year before ripping them out. Maybe they don't like the Pacific Northwest?
