Does exactly what it advertises to do: Takes an old miniPCIe, and lets you install a modern NVMe drive in it (albeit at the bandwidth limits of the old slot)Only problems I've found worth mentioning were easily overcome or non-issues:A. The adapter is 'marked' for cutting/snapping down to a smaller size but, it is not scored. If you snap the PCB down to 2230, you'll be left with half the 2242's mounting hole. Easy enough to fix: Snip remaining waste PCB off w/ wire cutters, sand smooth (concrete worked fine).B. Without the right tools - assembling by hand, the included standoff's style will always be loose. Honestly, the 'lil rubber thingy' that comes with most USB NVMe enclosures, would've been more-welcomed.

My older (vintage 2007) laptop had two micro PCIe slots, one of which was used by its WiFi card, and I wanted to put a Samsung SSD in the other slot. The issue was that the slot was very close to the processor heatsink, and also the SSD needed a different slot. This adapter is perfect! I was able to shorten the circuit board at its perforation to an ideal length, mount the SSD on the adapter, plug it in, and BINGO! It worked perfectly! There are a few caveats, though, that took me by surprise.First: DOS, Windows XP Pro (SP3), and Windows Vista (64 bit) can't find the SSD or due to software limitations, but there may be a fix for this, I haven't finished troubleshooting that.Second: Windows 10 finds the SSD just fine and can use it like any other drive, but owing to the very old non-UEFI BIOS, booting from it is not an option.I have yet to test it with Windows 7, 8, or 11 -- or any flavor of Linux -- but if the interest is there, I suppose I could...All in all, if you're running a modern OS and need more non-bootable internal data space, this is a great option for adding an SSD to your older laptop! If you are okay using a USB WiFi adapter, you could even replace your WiFi card with another SSD for even more space!
