The circle itself is ok, though I was surprised by how much it flexes, making it easy to bend and break. Also, the stand is cut in a kind of circular pattern around the notch that this should fit in, making it a loosey-goosey opening instead, so this flops back until the bottom of it hits the front of the inside of the cut and the back lays against the top of the cut. It would be better if it were simply an angled, straight cut in the wooden base, so the circle didn't flop around so much. Otherwise, this is a cool and visually helpful tool!

So this is fine, I guess, but it quickly had me guessing at things. So this is not the circle of fifths but an odder variations of it. The actual Circle of fifths, the way it is presented allowed you to travel clockwise getting the Fifth, and Counter Clockwise getting the fourth. With the Relative Minor being also right in the center alighted with the Major or tonic. So for example the relative Minor of C is A Minor. When you look at the circle of fifths as it has been presented since the 1600's the minor is always directly related with the major This is not, the way this is presented is the 3rd is directly over the tonic in major. It is just such a break from the norm that has been taught for centuries and how I have looked at this for decades it threw me off. I really do not know what advantage this has to present this in this way. The small book sheet that comes with it says it explains music theory which yeah it kind of does but when you change how this has been presented for 4 centuries, you might want to explain why. Also again the way this is laid out having the diminished chord on top give it focus to the diminished chord. I am an advanced musician and this hurt my brain trying to look at it and use it as a quick reference. I have a chart of the Circle of fifths the way it has been done for centuries, that was better than looking at this.

The Circle of Fifths Wheel is a handy reference device which can be used by both beginners and more experienced guitarists. It is fairly simple and easy to use—dial in the chord you are interested in and the wheel displays complimentary chords in the progression. The wheel is metal so it is durable and comes with a wooden stand. Single page chord chart and what is described as a music theory book are a tad weak, however, the information is there—it just suffers what most instructions translated from Chinese do. That said it is still a valuable learning aid. Definitely worth having.

I bought this for my musical husband as a gift. He discovered the circle of fifths as a younger and it has stuck with him his whole life. He's even got the tshirt! But as another reviewer carefully explained, this rendition is not exactly how it is conventionally displayed. I envisoned my husband would enjoy looking at it in his golden years and reflecting on how it works, but it looks now like it will just be another item on the shelf. Still, it IS nice to look at if you don't look too closely!

As the headline states: All Metal - Should Last YearsThis is a very solidly built Circle of Fifths wheel. The wheel and rotating frame is aluminum and as mentioned should last for years of use. The frame rotates smoothly on the wheel. It comes with instructions, a fabric storage bag and wooden stand. The instructions are a little lacking in detail, but is a good start. Youtube has some nice videos on how to use the wheel. This is a excellent purchase to help understanding music theory.

I got this for my 15-year-old daughter who plays guitar. She is definitely in one ear and so sometimes knowing cord groups that sound good together don’t always come naturally to her. This is very helpful because she likes to write her own music. It is metal and it slides in a circular pattern so that you can pinpoint exactly which chords sound best together. You can pick that cord and then you can place it in the wooden prop so that it’s easily visible in case you forget which chords sound best together. Good quality wood was used for the bottom. It is big enough that she can see it but small enough that it doesn’t take up too much space in her room. She likes it a lot. It has two sides with different writing on both sides. It also has a spot for her to hold three different thickness of pics which she likes.

Knowing your fifths is an important part of music theory. This tool does this with a great rotating wheel. The wheel itself is made of durable metal with easy to read notes on it.the wheel has a nice amount of resistance to hold the selection cage in place. The stand has a few slots in it that fit picks which was a nice touch . The only criticism I have for it is the slot for the wheel seems a bit too wide. The angle it sits in either direction isn't very solid. It feels like a balancing act. There's a piece of rubber felt to catch the edge, but it's not big enough.I do like how compact the overall tool is. It's fits in about the same space as a desk calendar or in music terms; a pocket amp.Definitely a useful reference tool to have at your side .

Nice device that helps visualize the circle of fifths. The slider helps you focus. But there’s nothing magical here – it doesn’t really show you anything that a printout of the circle doesn’t show.
