You take a gamble purchasing these. I received 8 small stones with only 1 having 2 sides that show what's inside clearly. The rest are all covered in the natural outer part of the stone (brown) with a peekaboo glimpse of carnelian here and there. It's like I got the last lot after you've been cutting into stones all day and you say F it I'm done, let me just throw these last pieces into a bag and call it a day. Definitely not impressed with this purchase. I mean they say rough carnelian but I didn't think they meant cut it open yourself rough.

Wow. I've never been compelled to write a review within an hour of unboxing, but I can't wait.I got these Carnelian with the intention of tumbling them. Not anymore.I got three large chunks, 1 medium, one small. Somehow I was lucky enough to find that two of the 3 large ones had mini geodes holes. Seriously they each have a small hole full of tiny white crystals growing inside. The other large one has an enchanting bullseye pattern, with stripes and swirls that resemble sardonyx. I'll probably tumble the two small ones, but they're perfect too. Perfect pieces of classic carnelian. The big three just happen to be extraordinary.Now don't go expecting this feature, and then go writing a bad review if you don't get a chunk full of other crystals. I just got lucky.I received a super disappointing shipment of bottom of the barrel, uber-crap black tourmaline from another seller last week. The excitement I got from this shipment cancelled out that disappointment and brought things back up...it's like crystal karma or something.Anyway all of that to say, this stuff is A+Check out the pics

I am very satisfied with the quality of the stones. They are all close in size and display a very pleasing spectrum of warm colors, including some brilliant reds. The only reason I am not giving them five stars is because of the overpowering perfumed scent that they are giving off. After storing only a half pound of the carnelian in my garage overnight, I opened the door the next morning and was overpowered with the incense-like smell. Even after washing in a mesh bag in a swift running stream for two hours, the smell was still there. This may be a problem for you depending on what you are planning to use them for.
