I was super scared to order this hurricane oil lamp because of all the reviews I had read. I first purchased these oil lamps in 1977 and they were very expensive. Seeing on Amazon they were markedly less money, I was very surprised to open my package and find exactly what I had expected, a perfect o lamp. I also ordered another size which is expected to come the first part of April. Fingers crossed!!

The side hole for adding fuel is small, making it a time-consuming task to fill up. This has been a major inconvenience for me, and I would appreciate a more user-friendly design.Bulk Wick Issues: As a first-time buyer, I opted for bulk wicks, but unfortunately, they proved to be problematic. The wicks became stuck inside the lamp's ball part, rendering them unusable. I would advise future buyers to consider purchasing metal wick holders instead for a smoother experience.Recommendations:Consider a Squeeze Bottle: To address the refueling issue, I recommend using a squeeze bottle for easier and faster fuel addition, which would enhance the overall user experience.Opt for Metal Wick Holders: Instead of bulk string wicks, invest in metal wick holders to prevent issues with wicks getting stuck inside the lamp. As noted by other reviewers these can be hit or miss on showing up broken. Mine did, but amazon turned around a replacement quickly. Loving the style and the big oil reservoir.

I like the lamp, though filling it is time consuming using the method the supplier provides. It was well packaged for shipping and arrived in tact. There should also be information related to the size/diameter of the wick for when replacements are needed. The height of the flame is a function of the exposed part of the wick that you light; that's pretty basic.
