There are always struggles that you have in your shop and finding the center of a log is always one of those until now! This centering protractor is a game changer if you need consistent centering abilities for any project. The acrylic design makes seeing through the protractor super simple to use. This is a simple tool you should add to your shop.

I turn a fair amount of green wood from felled trees to make blanks for future projects. Using traditional combination square center head and rule never really maximized my use of the wood because I would always have to approximate the center with several lines on the wood. Plus if the wood was not flat that complicated things. Using this center finder I have found that not only is it quicker and more accurate but when I set the wood between the centers of the lathe the balance of the piece is so much better that I can save lots of time by starting at higher speeds for debarking and clearing the cambium off the sap wood. I have also had less waste of the precious sap wood and am able to get larger diameter blanks than before. If the end isn't perfectly flat this center finder is pliable and will conform to the curve of the wood some. When this was delivered it was in a padded pouch and the USPS stuffed it in my street side mail box and had to bend it to fit. I was pleased that it flattened right out as soon as I took it out of the mail box and showed no ill effects from being so mistreated. If it had been ridged plastic it would have snapped in a second.I like that this is in imperial inch and not metric, no converting from mm to inch like other center finders.I also like that I can draw a radius using the slot and by using the protractor function I can draw angles quickly with the radius line... costs a little bit more but I think it's well worth the extra money. 10" works very well for my needs, your mileage may vary.5 stars

Seul petit regret, les graduations de traçage sont seulement tous les cmTous les 5 mm aurait été plus judicieuxRaison pour laquelle j'enlève une étoile

My small garage shop is slowly coming together and for some time I have been looking for a center finder for small logs. This is the neat Idea. Watch the video on the Amazon sales site. This device works like a charm.

This tool may be brilliant when used for centering on timber .. but, it's not accurate enough for drawings ..

A niche tool, but useful when you really need to draw a circle on a ceiling for a hole that a hole saw just won't be able to make because of things in the way and therefore needing to make the hole manually.I needed a 155mm hole for the slim ceiling lights that I was getting (Phillips brand), but this only had 150mm and 160mm holes. I had to mark, poke, and carefully drill a 155mm hole, but once I got that, I found it nifty and useful.
