Cloyes I've heard mixed reviews on. I have a 2005 Toyota Matrix with the 1zz-FE, and the timing chain tensioner leaks on those engine pretty often. So i bought tis one to safe some money on buying the OEM and upon arrival the this just felt sketchy and did not want to put it in and have the chain jump a tooth and ruin my motor. So I immediately return it and just got the OEM on. The ratchet plunder on the Cloyes had a lot of play in it so I didn't want to take that risk. I don't know if that is the same for other components from Cloys i know it is that with the product I got.

I installed it from above the engine. Simply remove the two 10mm nuts, pull out the old one and stick in the new one. Be sure to watch one of the Youtube videos about how to lock the plunger back and, once installed, how to turn the crankshaft to release the plunger. VERY IMPORTANT.

Perfect fit! The OEM tensioner wouldn't keep the timing chain tight, so I replaced it with this part. Chain tension is now firm and the vehicle runs much better. Performance improved as well.

Easy to install, perfect fit. O-ring is of very low quality, leaks more than the 15 year old tensioner I replaced. I had to remove new tensioner and install new o-ring.Update: the tensioner lasted less than three months. I recommend not to buy Cloyes tensioner
