The valve spring creation process is far more involved than most people realize. The result is a product that meets and exceeds the expectations of engine builders and racers.

This was a upgrade spring Comp 973-1 for a 8.3L brand new OEM Cummins Lift pump. After installing it did not produce anymore pressure then a Standard spring that came in new lift pump. Got 10psi idle (650-700rpm) and almost 18-20psi at 1800rpm. Just kept spring in as it was just a waste time to remove and ship it back.It did at least produced standard fuel pressure. Would like to have had the 25-50psi but just did not get past 20psi at WOT on 6cta8.3L Cummins.

These have gone up so much it's just not what is needed to hot rod your lift pump. Get your pump first, now the plungers in the pumps will not work with this spring. 30 mil plungers are made with smaller ID spring will not work.

I replaced my 12 valve Cummins lift pump spring with this one and it bumped me up to 40-45psi of fuel pressure under load. Worked great for my purpose

For the last few months I have been fighting a fueling issue with my 12v cummins. I'd have good pressure at idle and cruising, but any load or demand I'd drop below 20psi. I changed fuel filters, changed my overflow valve and was on the verge of buying a new hot rod pump. Looked up the hot rod mod for the lift pump. Ordered this single valve spring and did the swap. Added 2 shims when I put spring in and reassembled. Holy baby Jesus I got fuel pressure back. I'm idling at 30 psi and cruising at 46. And when I decide to hammer the throttle wide open I don't have a drop in pressure. Overall well worth the money and time installing this. Happy I didn't sink another $500 on a new hot rod pump.
