Used for a weeklong July trip to Hong Kong - record heat and humidity. Is it the perfect pack - no. The material got hot, making this out of canvas would have been much better. However, the airflow was great - would be nice to be able to angle the output at the top of the bag and the plastic airbox material wasn't as rigid as I would have liked (and if the back was heavily packed it might have impacted the airflow) - a super small Coolreal 20A power bank ran the pack all day long, even with the fans on high the bag draws much less power than I expected. Medium or Low speed was fine. Overall, bag was a great value and I'd pay more for a higher quality bag - but it got the job done.

I hike A LOT. My back is always sweaty, no matter how many packs I buy that claim they allow for air movement across the back. They don't. This one does! The fan is absolutely fantastic. This has now become my standard day hike pack. It keeps my back pretty dry and a lot more comfortable. There is enough room in the pack for snacks and supplies. The pack is comfortable to wear. You do need to get used to the stiff back where the fans are.

If you're outside in the summer, any fan sounds like a good idea to try. If you're outside with a backpack -- as I am every year for a length of time for the last few years -- this seems like a neat idea to keep that sticky backpack-back feeling at bay. It is an interesting idea, and a neat design. The bag is solidly made. The fans are well built and are set into the back of the backpack in an accessible zippered-shut section. They're protected from squishing by the firm plastic structure of the section they're in, which ensures that the fans are able to move and provide cool air. The air is propelled upward to two areas -- a section right against the back, and a spot where the air blows right up your nape. The fans are strong enough to product a nice breeze, and the placement of the cooling areas is good -- right where the stickiness tends to build up, and right where you want that fan on the back of your neck. I was quite pleased to find that the bag itself is quite light -- though I suppose that the weight of your powerbank, as well as whatever you carry in your pack, will affect that. You start out lighter than I'd really expected though, which I can appreciate. There are some negatives. Because of the fan, the space in the bag is more limited than some other backpacks might have. The is basically one large pocket to use, and a smaller slot you can put things in. There are no dividers, laptop holders, pen slots or such things that some backpacks may have. It's functional and does carry things, but it isn't a fancy backpack organizationally. The fans work on a powerbank, which you plug into the USB port that is threaded from the back of the backpack into the main pocket. There is no divider or pocket to hold your powerbank, you just attach it and leave it in the pocket where you can. It is a USB attachment, which is easy to obtain. The fans will of course last as long as your powerbank lasts. The backpack doesn't come with a powerbank, so that's something you're going to have to shop and invest in separately. I didn't initially realize that you had to 'long hold' the button on the strap, but once I figured that out it wasn't a problem. The material of the backpack is waterproof, which is nice, but it almost feels like faux leather, which could be sticky and non-breathing in heated conditions. Also, because of the hard plastic protecting the fans, and the placement of the fans, you do end up with a plastic box sitting on your back, which could potentially be uncomfortable. There are definitely some pros and cons to this backpack. You sacrifice some things for the fans and cooling. I don't know that I'd recommend this pack for hiking or anything like that, where you're heading into the wilderness and you want to use all your space as wisely as possible, but for day adventures, touristy walking trips, adventures around a park and that sort of thing, this could be an interesting backpack to invest in. Your mileage may vary!
