...being a guitar player and all and having a desk top full of picks at any given time. I thought this would be the perfect item to organize some of my clutter. My excitement quickly waned when I opened the package and saw the crushed box the product came in. Definitely a return from some other customer I surmised. So, I installed a couple batteries and... NOTHING. No lights no action, dead on arrival. So, this is why it was returned?? A couple sharps raps on the counter and a little fiddling with the batteries and she came to life. The colored lights do work, which is kinda cool, but only about 50% of the time when I switch it on. The acrylic is very loose in the frame, not a snug fit, so it takes two hands to put your pick away or retrieve one. This is one item I could definitely do without.

Very nice unit that far exceeded my expectations. I thought this was going to be just some kind of trinket, but it turned out to be a very high-quality unit. The base is nicely-finished wood with an inlaid golden-colored touch button. The pick holder is of very thick Plexiglass and has a lot of style.I put a pair of "AAA" batteries in the unit and then pressed the button. Beautiful LEDs illuminate the Plexiglas headstock and generate a very impressive look. (Not immediately noticeable is that there is a translucent film on the back of the headstock that needs to be removed so that the pick holder is completely transparent. It is a bit tricky to remove, but worth the effort.)Each press of the button changes the color of the edge-illuminating LEDs and gives the device a great visual look. Actually, with its nicely finished base and transparent illuminated pick holder, this unit looks like some type of award that they would give out at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!If you are a guitar player, or have one in your circle, this is an amazing gift. I have had it on display for a couple of days now, and every once in a while I change the color just to add a little variety to the room. I am still impressed with it, and I would like to thank the Academy for honoring me with this award. :>)
