As always Corning produced a top rate product, you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to lab equipment.

This is built to survive in a lab. I'm confident that I'll still have this thing in 20 years. I don't know why the magnetic stirrer is only included in lab grade hotplates. It's very useful in a kitchen.

Well built and easy to operate -- worthy of any professional lab. I especially appreciate the ability to regulate temperature throughout the entire range. I prefer the pyroceram top over other materials as offered by other manufacturers.

Stirrer does not work unless turned up all the way. Hot plate does not boil water.

Pro: Good hotplate/seems to work as expected, may change review to a 3 after more use.Con: Rather bad packaging. It came in a cardboard box with no other padding besides a bit more cardboard, which seemed fine to me. However, all of the contents were covered in a dust like stuff (cardboard filings?). When i eventually turned it on, I did not wipe it down much, so the dust burned and smelled terrible.By far the worst bit was that the power cord's plug was bent badly, and although i could bend it back into shape, it annoyed me.

GREAT hotplate/stirrer if kept under 2000mL reaction volume. After that, go cheaper hotplate and overhead stir. Just my .02. Would recommend.

I bought this product for my dad, researcher at a university. He wanted this one, and it was delivered on time, no defects, he was happy.
