La herramienta es muy pesada y le falta un poco de balance. Menos peso, masbalance.Esa herramienta existe en California y si no mal recuerdo se Llama Mc-cloude, o algo asi.Es mas ligera y facil demaniobrar.Por eso le doy 4.

The previous owner of my small ranch left a Mcleod tool in the barn- I was completely unaware of its intended purpose (fire tool )and decided to use it to break up compacted soil for a new garden. What a beast (and what a workout!). This tool will break up clay soil, and if you are in shape (or want to be), is a better investment than a roto-tiller. I broke the handle after three seasons and ordered a different brand (Corona). The screw in the head bolt does require re-tightening after heavy use, so I decided to apply Loctite to the threads, and now it remains tight. Not cheap, but a great versatile tool.

The head of this tool proves to be useful for many jobs. The handle makes the effective length of this tool about 52” long. I wish the handle were 4-12” longer. I am 6’1” tall and my top hand is hanging off the end of the handle when I use this tool.

Best legit trail/fire tool there is. Corona is well built with a heavy steel working end and strong ash handle. I used loctite on the threads and added a vibration washer from an old bike tube to the plate when I fixed it on. Should get a decade of hard work out of it.

Stamped right on it “made in China”. I did a little research and wasn’t sure where it was made. Though it was US but I was wrong. I will be trying to support the good ol USA in the future.

Appears well made. Used one when in the forest service after I got out of the military and waiting to get back to school. This one seems as well made with the right heft. I would have liked an integrated rake with handle, we'll see how the nut and bolt idea holds up when I get a chance to use it this spring.

I am familiar with using a McLeod from previous work and found it hard to find locally. I am glad it was available online. If buying one, you should also order a sharpening stone so that you can keep the edge sharp. It makes it much more effective when you hone it after every few uses.
