There are other makers of these loops but no one makes any that match the ease and performance. The Cortland leader loops always work and have never failed me in 4 years of freshwater use. The only way they could improve these is to include 4 cut-to-length shrink tubes rather than having you cut your own from the one long length of tubing included. Don’t forget to cut the tubing into 4 equal size lengths! I can’t tell you how many packs of these I have seen on eBay with three loops left and no tubing …

Easy to install and use, but make sure to glue them on. Lost a striped bass when the leader separated from the line, totally my fault.Handles the schoolies no problem on my 8 weight.

Directions don't tell you how much shrink tube to use. You get one shrink tube, 4 loops...that said first attempt I used 1 inch of tube, used lighter..didn't like it..to easy to scortch tubibg, did it again, used rest of tube , used heat gun, that worked better, no scorching....left shrink tube on flyline..should last for years......Update, while fishing on salmon river, the entire leader fell off.. yes it was properly installed, avoid this product, buy flyline with loop in place.

I can use this on another, bigger rod -- but it's not what I thought I was ordering. That's because "Customer Questions and Answers" said:Q: What is the difference between these slip-on leader loops (601352) and Cortland 601253 Slip-On Leader Loops?A: The 52 fits a 6-8 and the 53 fits a 4-6 tapered line (Kath answered on June 2, 2015)BUT the package says: For 8 - 15 wt fly lines. And unfortunately the Product Description doesn't say a thing about line weight...

Easy to use, you have to be careful with the shrink wrap tubing, you need to be quick so you don't melt the fly line. I used a match but a hair dryer might work better. I've tried different brands in the past and they were difficult to feed onto the fly line, these were easier and secured well.
