THE ERROR CODE P0335

Error Code P0335 is described as Crankshaft Position Sensor “A” Circuit Malfunction. This means the vehicle's ECM (Electronic Control Module) has not yet detected the crankshaft position sensor during the first second of the cranking of the engine or senses a problem with the pulses in the output with Sensor “A” Bank 1.

P0335 Symptom

  • Check Engine Light
  • Vehicle may stall/hesitate
  • Hard starting vehicle
  • Rough running vehicle
  • Engine dies

IS EASY TO INSTALL?

yes, because is very easy and quick to repair. generally, it should be installed in 5-6 minutes.

P0335 Causes

  • Damaged crankshaft position sensor
  • Defective crankshaft position sensor
  • Broken timing belt or chain
  • Rough running/misfiring engine
  • Failed ECM

The difficulty of Diagnosis and Repair

  1. Use the live scan tool to check that there is an RPM reading when the engine is running.
  2. Conduct a visual inspection of the crank sensor and connectors and search for signs of fraying/damage to the wiring.
  3. If no visible damage is found, you can check the CKP 5 Volt square wave pattern. You will have to reference your vehicle’s repair manual to determine which resistance reading is sufficient. This reading will come from the vehicle’s PCM. If you are not familiar with vehicles, it is best to leave this step to a professional.
  4. If the reading is within the specifications of the vehicle, no need to replace the crankshaft position sensor. However, if the reading is NOT within the specifications of the vehicles, the crankshaft position sensor should be replaced. Replace any frays/damaged wiring and if the reading is within the specifications now, there may be a short in the wiring.

I took a gamble and bought this cheeper one online…and lost. Car would start but died once you used the gas peddle. I ended up getting it from AutoZone and it works great like it should. You get what you pay for and sometimes these cheeper ones work and sometimes not.

The part is easy to install. Prepare a pair of long nose plyers for the removal of previous unit and a 10mm ratchet.
