I know these work well to keep your hat attached to your body because I have used them before my most recent order. The reason I ordered these recently is because I used them to secure porch cushions to chairs in windy conditions. I just clip one end onto a concealed edge of the cushion, and I loop the other end around a nearby part of the chair frame. This method works like a charm and has withstood some rather strong winds.
