St.-Hil., named by the French botanist Auguste François César Prouvençal de Saint-Hilaire. If you like a stronger, yet smooth flavored tea, you will love this! Yerba mate is an acquired taste, with a big flavor profile. And it’s going to take some time to develop your “mate palate” , so to speak.

I've been getting local Mate for awhile, it was always very meh or downright gross. Found a brand on Amazon which was ok but their price went up a lot. They weren't bad but their "loose leaf" was more like finely ground, like what ya get in tea bags, not impressive.Enter Cruz De Malta Yerba Mate, oh man, this is at an entirely different level. I'm very glad I got a two pack because it does take awhile to cross the border into the USA. But the wait was definitely worth it! I like to add milk to my tea, brings the temp into the range I want to drink it asap, that's all I added and it wasn't much. I'm sorry to the purists out there :D. I also used my Cuisinart Single Cup brewer for making it instead of the traditional method. I've found that it ends up about the same with regular tea, so why not with Mate? Someday I'll get a traditional drinking vessel, but till then this works great. Highly recommend this brand!! Oh and the seller packaged this thing like fort knox, extremely well done!

I like this particular brand and is great that you can find it readily available in the US. I use it for the traditional hot drink so I can't tell about its flavor for Terere lovers. I recommend, will buy it again... probably soon.

Hadn’t tried but had read about the benefits of Yerba Mate so I decided to give it a try and will definitely be purchasing again. Had bought the tea bags before from out local H-E-B but prefer to make it myself. Just boil water and I am using a French press to stop the leaves from getting in it and enjoy!

So I'm on the journey to find the perfect mate (she's out there somewhere... Feel free to laugh at my pun)I've tried a few different yerbas and I'd say this one is pretty standard. Its not too strong for sure, and the flavor dissipates pretty quickly, but its not bad! The flavor is good, just nothing out of the ordinary. If you're buying your yerba like you buy flour, this is probably the way to go, otherwise, I'd say experiment with some other ones unless you really don't want to think about it.
