I will not remove and cut out my bumper to install this. I didn't read anywhere in the product description that I would need to cut out a portion of my bumper. There are better options available to you out there. I will try to sell this to someone on craigslist.

There was a small issue not mentioned in the manual. A tpms antenna was in the way and had to be relocated on my wife's 2012 mini cooper countryman

It looks and feels solid, I like this hitch but I havent put it on my car yet. I need to find the time to do it. Over all it seems like a very sturdy and well made hitch.

I have owned numerous CURT brand hitches and accessories, I currently have them on my Ford truck, Mini Cooper and GTO. I had one on my Ford Escape also before I sold it. I only list them all to say that while I have NEVER had any negative issues with CURT's products the listing should be changed on this particular vehicle... I have never had to remove as many parts from a vehicle to install a hitch before in my life... My husband is a mechanic so it was not as hard for him and the instructions were very useful however I did not know when I purchased this hitch that the rear bumper cover and bumper have to removed to install this hitch. Care should be taken to not physically damage the paint/ bumper during the installation process. Also the exhaust has to be unhooked from the hangers to get it in place. There were 10 rivets removed from the bumper, the hardware only included 8 rivets. CURT sent me an additional package of rivets to correct the problem however you will also need a plastic rivet gun such as are used by body shops to install the new rivets in the bumper. The hitch does not come with this and this little beast will cost you an additional 20$ some + dollars to buy unless you already own one. The plastic rivets did not fit any of the standard rivet guns we had or were available at the local parts store. I contacted my local body shop to see if we could use metal rivets, they said we could if we wanted but advised strongly against it as they said they may eventually pull through the plastic... This is a new car so I was not happy about that option. I asked could we borrow the gun from the body shop to use so we didn't have to buy one (he has done lots of work for us in the past so we know him well). The body shop advised against using the rivets that came with the kit because they don't last (according to him) and told us to go to the parts store and get standard plastic body clips which we did and they worked fine. Bottom line the difficulty of the installation is not because of the product but rather this particular car but I do think the buyer should beware as this is not as easy as it is made to seem. Whomever installs this should have a little more than average mechanical knowledge.
