I needed this for a family trip to the mountains. Seems the amount of things we "need" grows and can no longer fit into our SUV. Hence, this extra cargo became the solution. The Cargo Carrier came in a largish box partially assembled. The box was beat to #$*% and a large hole had been punched in the bottom. The grating on one of the pieces was pushed in. I was able to knock it back into shape mostly but it is still noticeable if you are looking. Reason this is important is that this is the second Curt product I have purchased. They really need to hire someone that knows about packaging larger, heavier objects because both products were beat to #$*% upon arrival. Assembly was rather straight forward but required some pushing, shoving and cursing to get all the holes to line up enough to get the bolts in. This is the other thing I would note about Curt products. They do not seem to be uniformed in their production. It's possible things get bent because of poor packaging or they just do not weld, drill or fabricate as well as they should (in my opinion). The company could probably save some money on returns if they put more effort into production and packaging. All that said, the product (s) seem sturdy and likely will last for many years but might require some additional paint in later life to avoid rust.

Bit heavy but strong and well built so worth the tradeoff. I carry 2 recumbent bikes on the back on the RV and haven't had any issues. The assembly is pretty simple for anyone that understand the business end of a wrench. I actually tried to set this up the way some reviewers showed in pictures. I guess it's possible, but would take some effort to misalign it that way. Maybe I just got a good one but it's very well engineered and strong enough to hold the bikes - that's not trivial since these bents cost more than my first car so the carrier has to be right - it is. I did get one of those clips that tighten around the 'stinger" and the hitch so the whole assembly is rock solid. No regrets.

We needed additional storage for our trip to the beach and thought a hitch cargo carrier would be best. I read tons of reviews and could not come to a conclusion based on reviews alone so I took a chance on a name brand and was very satisfied with the results. Some buyers said they found it to be of poor quality and manufactured with poor tolerances. I found it easy to assemble and fit our vehicle perfectly. The upturn on the bar held the basket above the exhaust line and kept all of our belongings safe. I was very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for additional cargo capacity on a trip.

It was easy to assemble. I was suprised with all of the negative comments. This made it easy for me to travel with my additional cargo in my car. easy to strap items down and it didn't wobble or teeter.

I'm very happy with my purchase. This item is strong and just the right size for my vehicle. I purchased because I was tired of asking people to help me pick up items from the store that was too big to fit in my vehicle (2002 Explorer) or things that I didn't want to put inside the vehicle like dirt, mulch, gas and other lawn materials. This was the perfect solution. I definitely recommend this item.

It seems stouter than some I've seen, but it could have been made a little stouter. I don't know why they don't beef these things up. They wiggle so when on the back of a vehicle, metal fatigue is a worry. But, so far, it's doing well. I don't put over 150 pounds on it.
