Working tail lights on your trailer are absolutely essential any time you tow, and a converter provides an effective way to properly equip your vehicle for safe towing. A CURT electrical converter, much like our custom vehicle-to-trailer wiring harnesses, provides a trailer connector on your vehicle by splicing into the vehicle's electrical system. Electrical converters are designed to splice directly into the taillight wiring, rather than plugging into various sockets, giving them the nickname "taillight converters". Though it requires a little extra work compared to a custom wiring harness, a tail light converter offers a reliable, long-term connector solution. This CURT electrical converter is designed to convert a 3-wire system to a 2-wire system and provides a standard 4-way flat connector socket to plug in your trailer. This converter is made with cutting-edge surface-mount technology (SMT) circuitry, featuring electrical components that are mounted directly to the surface of the board rather than being inserted into a series of holes. SMT circuits have longer life cycles, lower resistance, reduced heat generation and are more reliable than through-hole-mounted components.

Took about 10 minutes to wire up. Used it to replace the original one in my 95 grand cherokee which after 29 years decided to fail. So got this one, quickly tapped it into the wiring, drilled a hole to feed the wire through and then reattached the plug. Now the module sitting inside wont get destroyed ever unless something physically smashes it. But it works great. Saved the day and was a very fair price. May order one for my 97 grand cherokee as well.

The attached pic shows what your end product should look like- ready to work. This adaptor makes this possible. If you have a vehicle with separate turn signals from the brake light, adapting to a standard four-wire hitch plug can be a real pain. Kudos to Curt for developing this product, which includes plenty of wire and OK instructions.I knocked off a star because the sticker on the converter box was mismatched with the wires; you must use the color coding in the instructions. This will trip the unwary up. You need to have decent wiring skills to make this work, but it can be done without too much pain.Essential for a neat and 100% functional job. I followed the wire color guide in the instructions and got it right first try. You can too.Recommend, but pay attention.

This makes the install for trailer hitch wiring so easy! It includes everything you need to make it work. The only modification I had to make was that the right blinker wire was a little bit too short so I attached an extension. If you're using this for a regular vehicle you won't need to worry.

I bought this for my motorcycle with custom led brake and tail lighting. The factory harness was a 3 wire turn, brake and running. My new lights are 2 wire turn/brake and running. In the picture you’ll see a black wire leading off, I hooked it up to the running lights for my license plate light. I have it placed under my rear seat inside my fender, it doesn’t get real hot but it does take a lot of bumps and vibrations. I’ve had it installed for about six months now, still going strong.
