So the lid does not lock. The lock only locks the foot peddle from being used and raising the lod, which is super misleading as it's advertised to keep pets out. My pets are not using the foot peddle when they break into the trash can. I just folded and put a bungee cord on top since it's too much trouble to return.

I’ve got this shepsky. He’s a solid raccoon. This trash can manages to keep him out. Even when he tries to knock it over! This dog has managed to break every other can within a week. This one has lasted over a month. Great quality.

this is a durable trashcan that will last. it is easy to clean, and it doesnt look dirty like the stainless steel ones. there is also a lock on the front that is very useful in keeping pets or kids out of the trash!

I have a very smart German Shepherd who is a trash can genius. Had the stainless steel one first without the lock feature and it didn’t take him long to figure out how to step on it and get in it. We’ve had this one for a few weeks and he cannot get in it! So if you have dogs, this is the one for you! If you are considering this one, get it, you won’t regret it!

Do not buy. Don't listen to the reviews, they have just received it and don't know about the issues which occur after a bit. The pedal mechanism constantly unlatches at the bottom at the slightest touch making us constantly have to put it on the ground or flip it over to fix it. We literally stopped using the pedal because of how much of an issue this is. Tonight the can just gave out. Picked it up and the metal rod which connect to the top unlatched and it's impossible to get it working again. Save your money, buy something else. This is garbage. No pun intended
