I was hoping to mount this right on the cymbal mount of my 60's Slingerland kit; but the holes back then were made smaller.. Arm extension is light, but appears plenty strong. I was planning to mount an 8" splash, for which this would be perfect.

It may not make a difference but you should know, this is NOT normal metal and chrome used in most drum hardware. It is very light aluminum and is a light grayish color, which is hard to see in photos. I didn't see aluminum anywhere in the description. It is merely described as metal...which is rather ambiguous (if not misleading) in my opinion. I have not tested it so I cannot speak of its performance and durability. But my initial observation was not good, for I expected a beefy, chrome, heavy duty piece like you would get with Gibraltar. I hope this helps you make an informed purchase. Cheers.
