This was a perfect replacement for my almost 30 year old Sterling shower faucets. It came with a new seat as well. I would recommend these if you need a replacement for your older faucet.

I had a leaky shower handle in a shower that is over 20 years old. I had a hard time finding a new stem. This was an exact match. Easy to install and no more leak.

My house was built in 1986 and when the stems that were installed when it was built finally started to fail, we went from store to store and nobody could identify the right replacement part for us. I finally found this one on Amazon by accident when I saw it while looking for new universal handles (which, by the way, regular universal handles do NOT work on these stems, only the Sterling Type L seem to work). Now that we know what the stem is, we replaced both the shower and our hall bathtub stems, and bought one extra as a "spare", just in case we live here another 33 years.

Perfect fit, but had to take the old one to a home improvement store and use their charts to figure out which one. Curious as to how I would have figured out the right valve without a trip to that store.
