These clamps are not as sturdy as need to support much weight at all. Rather than tightening down, the bottom part of the metal that fits under the railing bends with the screw as it is tightened. They would not stay on our deck rail once the poles were inserted. We had to zip tie the poles to the balusters at top and bottom to take all stress off the clamps. In the end it worked and we were able to camouflage the zip ties so it doesn’t look bad, but definitely not how it is intended to work.
