This is a cute pie plate but it is not deep dish.

I thought that this pie pan would be absolutely perfect to make a pie on pi day for my daughter and son-in-law, who both have math degrees. However, I just couldn't wait that long! I made a strawberry pie and stuck it in their refrigerator to celebrate the first day of school (my son-in-law teaches AP Calculus) and I am now just waiting for them to discover the design in the bottom of the pan.The pan is high quality and the "pi" design is very clear. The only caveat is that the pan is 8", whereas most recipes are for 9" pies. It is fairly deep, which helps, but I had a little filling left over that wouldn't fit.I am really pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it for any "math nerd" out there! It would be a perfect gift for any math teacher, with or without a pie inside!
