The Del Rey ️ 20 mm Dead Blow Hammer and Micro-Divot Center Punch Kit is a great set for jewelry, metal work, repairing, and more. Micro-Divot Center Punch: The micro-divot center punch helps you make micro divots for an accurate guide while drilling holes. Use the extra-fine point to lay out your designs. The 4” long center punch is made of 45 carbon steel and has a hardness of 40 HRC. How to Use Center Punch: Position your metal on a steel bench block. Place the super fine tip at the hole location you want. I use this hammer with and without the punch surprisingly often. Any time any household item is out of alignment or needs to be forced back into place, out it comes. It's small but mighty, and I love it because it wields a surprising amount of power with its dead blow, but never dents or dings anything (unless, of course, you're using it with the punch). This is the tool I never realized I was missing.

This works well. I do metal stamping and this helps me strike true with no bounce back. Bounceback makes my stamp jump so I end up double stamping. This is not good. :D So I love this hammer.

This dead blow hammer is quite effective in allowing you to hit a small piece of metal evenly, without recoil. It's one of several size heads in their series. It comes with an unrelated center punch, which is similar to any other sharp punch, kind of like a really large nail. If you haven't had a punch in your arsenal, it's quite helpful for marking and starting holes, and well as scribing/scoring surfaces (like to mark where you intend to cut). The handle works, but iit feels awkward in my hand, and it's an ugly finished handle. I don't think that's a reason not to buy it, but I don't like the handle much.

Lots of wallop for such a small hammer. The faces are non-marring so can also be used directly on soft metals. The center-punch is a typical knurled punch. The reason to get this is the hammer. If you do any soft metal work but have a difficulty time using larger/heavier hammers, this is a great alternative. Obviously it's also good for punching and marking. It's a little longer than many hammers, but narrower and lighter.

Really like this hammer, it's perfect for smaller or delicate work, where you don't need big power. I do alot of woodworking, so I really appreciate the poly type of heads, I don't have to worry about it damaging my wood. Of course the handle is hickory, so I know it's going to last and it's very durable. The handle has a nice finish. Also really like the punch, it comes with a nice small point so you can get more accurate sets. And it's hardened steel to it will probably outlast me.Very happy with this set, I know Ill get so much use out of it. Recommend without hesitation.

Both the hammer and the punch are small, but sometimes that's exactly what you need. The punch is small and very sharp. It has a knurled handle, and despite its small size and my extra large hands, it's very easy to hold. It works great for making a small dent in sheet metal to prevent your drill bit from wandering. The hammer is also rather small and light. It's really hard to hear the steel shot rattling in the head. It sounds more like sand. It's very effective, though, delivering a nice dead blow with just the right amount of force. the two faces seem to be made out of plastic, and provide a nice, non-marring surface.

This hammer and punch set really comes in handy. Projects come up in which I need to make a pilot hole or a metal dent. Recently, I had a door repair where this was necessary and all I had was an old, worn punch and a claw hammer. After watching the punch slide around a few times, I gave up that method and used a tiny drill bit and small electric variable speed drill to make a tiny hole about halfway through the surface. Then I got a bigger bit and beveled out the hole. What a hassle. Especially since I had to do this four times. If I'd had this punch set then, I'd have made the dent with a single blow and not had any scratches to repair. So fifteen minutes of work the old way, maybe 20 seconds this way. This is just in time for an audacious project that is starting in a few weeks, a steel-framed climbing wall for my back yard. Between the mounting holes and the holes for the anchors, I have a big layout challenge. This punch set will save me several hours and give me better precision versus any other method. The punch has knurls on it, which I appreciate because it won't slip when I'm holding it. Hammers vary in quality, with to me the main issue being balance. If you swing the hammer and the weight is not balanced in relation to where you're holding it, you will strike off the intended point. When that point is the tiny top of a small punch, that makes a big difference. One solution many people have is to use a hammer with less weight. I don't like that solution, I want to smack the hammer once and be done with it. This hammer has excellent balance and its added weight (the steel shot) allows me to deliver a strong blow. I like the feel of the hickory handle, partly because I grew up with wooden handled hammers. This particular handle is shaped to fit your hand, rather than just being a straight piece of wood.

This 20 mm face dead blow hammer is just the thing for smaller assembly work. It has a rough feeling hickory handle about a foot long, that feels good in the hand for the size Hammer that it is, and is a good grip. The head is securely attached to the wooden handle with an interference fit and a locking pin, so that should keep things solid for a long time. The dead blow faces are hard nylon, which should keep it from making too many marks on metal should you miss your spot as I do sometimes. Delray has thoughtfully included an extra-fine point center punch with the hammer, which always comes in handy for drilling. I'm not sure that I would use this hammer with a center punch like the type that comes with it. It seems to me that the thin head of the punch would be likely to place undue wear and damage on the nylon face of the hammer. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with the hammer and the addition of the center punch makes it a good purchase. I would recommend this hammer for your light dead blow hammer needs.
