This tool worked great for tuning up my ski and snowboard edges. Pretty easy to use, just adjust the angle and run the filing side along your edges. I am a little skeptical about the asking price however, as it's just a plastic housing with screw adjustments. I'm also unsure of the accuracy of the angle markings. Still, it gets the job done I guess.

Tool is plastic not aluminum as in the description. The tool flexes greatly and cannot set a precise base bezel. Avoid this tool it will wreck your skis. Returned.

Product arrived in new condition and free of defects. Some background - expert skier with over 20 pair of skis in the household. I prefer taking skis for tunes rather than doing it at home, but for those looking to save money, this edge filer is a good option. The design is superior to many others I’ve tried (but not as good as the very high end home edge filers). That being said, the superior products are many times the price so overall I think this is a good value and totally adequate for the majority of those tuning at home.

this tool is pretty solid for tuning up your skis or snowboard and does the job well its nice how you can adjust the angles from 0.5 to 2.0 degrees so it gives you some flexibility depending on what you need......the heavy-duty aluminum base feels sturdy and the included steel file works great for sharpening edges......its also a plus that it fits demon united diamond files so you can upgrade if you want something finer later on......my only gripe is the file compatibility since you cant use anything wider than 1 inch which is kinda limiting but if you stick with whats recommended it works fine......overall a reliable edge tuner for anyone who wants to keep their gear in good shape without spending a fortune1/2

I'm not that particular about my ski tuning, so I'm probably not the right person to evaluate if this is a good base tuning tool. I can say that it's solid, easy to use, and does a good job of cleaning up the base edges before moving on to the sides.

This edge tuner is the ideal thing to keep in your car or ski bag. You can use it to sharpen up your skis every day before hitting the slopes. Easily handles small nicks, quickly brings the edge back to where it was at the beginning. It has multiple settings to handle edges for any level of skiier. I can't wait to get back on the slopes this year - this will definitely see a lot of use. The cost is less than a typical tune-up, but with this you can keep them tuned all season long. I think for the price and the quality, it is an excellent value.

I think calling this a "professional" ski tuning tool is a stretch at best; it's better than a hand file and a prayer, but it's not the aluminum the description says it is, and I'd expect a bit more of "you can't get this wrong" combined with "this tool helps you do the job fast" with a pro level tool. This is definitely more hobbyist/DIY level, it's plastic, and takes a good bit of time, finesse, and patience, to get a good result. The file it comes with has two sides, a "cut a lot" and a "cut a medium amount" level; it could probably benefit from having another file with "fine" and "polish" on it.The guide tool does have a couple guide pins to help keep it aligned with the edge, and a couple feet to let it slide along the base without marring the base; the angle settings will have the file slightly cutting into, and loading up with, a bit of base right by the edges as you sharpen, so expect it to need frequent cleaning. It will help clean up rusty edges from extended storage though, part of what I wanted it for.Overall, could be better, it definitely has the "tool made to a price point" feel like you find in discount tool shops. It won't make you a pro ski tuner, but it can help up your DIY game.If you're shopping for this, you probably also need an edge-side file tool--this one only touches-up the bottom face of the ski edge, and does not sharpen the side at all. Both will be needed for a good tune job.I am concerned about long-term durability as well, the pic shows the wear already visible on the guide pins after use on two snowboards and a pair of skis, I'm thinking a seasons or two of family use will wear those out at this rate.
