About Sample Valve

Has rust on the inside and was bought brand new. Thought it might’ve been a discoloration at first but it’s rust.

Doesn't leak and the vlave stem unscrews fully to allow for cleaning. Needs a little food grade grease at first. The hose Barb also allows for me to hook it directly to a carbonation meter or other instruments to analyze samples of our product.

Does what it is supposed to do. Easy disassembly for cleaning. Uncomfortable, narrow-edged handle combined with stiff operation isn't the most pleasant combination.Edit: Reduced to three stars from four. The washer which actually stops flow looks like it’s been chewed on and as far as I can tell, replacements are not available. It’s still sealing for now, but I doubt for much longer. As one person noted in the Q&A section, there is a vendor selling generic seals for sample valve, so I have ordered a set, but it’s a $5 gamble after factoring in shipping. The only reason I don’t give it two stars is that I don’t know that this isn’t a problem common to all of these types of valves. My Spike valve is similar, but not identical.

Beautifully machined. These valves were a little tight when they first arrived; upon closer inspection, I found that they were dry. After I sanitized them, I applied a little keg grease and they operate very smoothly.

The o rings that seal this thing were trashed right out of the box. It’s also full of grease which would take a lot of cleaning to get to be food safe. There’s a dozen companies selling this exact same valve. I’m not sure if any are different but the other one I have from another seller has been in service for a year and still works fine. If this thing shipped with spare rings it might have been ok but as it is I don’t want to take my chances on a second one.
