After hearing a couple horror stories on the forums of people getting stuck with inoperable lift gates, I got this as a ready spare in case it is needed. Unfortunately, the Transit Connect doesn't have a manual release if the outside button fails to work. If you are lucky, the electric actuation from the fob or interior buttons will still work. And since this is just a plug-in replacement, it doesn't hurt to have a spare in case mine fails. The item pictures seemed to match my vehicle so I gave it a try. Once received, a closer inspection shows this to be a near identical item to the OEM, just without the name brand markings. I have no doubt that it will drop right in if I do have a failure. Cheap insurance and well worth it to save the time and annoyance of having an inoperable liftgate until a part can be found. And with all the recent supply issues, better to have a part in hand rather than wait months for supplies to be restocked.
