This certified, ISO accredited force gauge is unbeatable at this price. The Nextech force gauge offers very accurate push/pull tension and compression testing. The unit is very well built with a very nice sturdy metal housing. It can be operated both hand-held and mounted to a test stand.I don't own a set of officially certified weights, but I verified several quantities of weight with two different post office scales and the accuracy was congruent even with weights as low as a few ounces. The minimum weight of measure is a bit tricky to describe. The digital sensor requires 0.1% of the gauge's maximum capacity to activate the unit's readout away from zero. So for the DFS100 the readout reads 0 until at least 0.1 newton or about 10 grams of load weight is applied. Also, the sensor's accuracy with a load less than 10% of the units max capacity can become less precise. So in other words, be sure of your needs. Even though I had excellent results with weight as little as 1 or 2 ounces, The DFS100's ideal force testing range is probably between 5 - 22 lbs. and of course you should never induce a total weight load greater than the rated maximum. The LCD display is large enough to easily see the readout and it has good readability from fairly sharp viewing angles. The LCD readout can also be inverted by holding the MENU key while powering up the unit. The control buttons have a nice tactile click and are very well laid out.Zeroing, resetting and switching between modes and units of measures are all very easy and intuitive. The unit can be operated while powered by the included charger or the internal rechargeable battery. The battery charge life is excellent. The DFS has the ability to measure Compression & Tension forces in peak mode or in real-time tracking mode. You can also setup a Pass/Fail range if needed. I do not believe that it currently has the ability to test average forces over time, like peeling-up a length adhesive tape. The gauge has the capability to store hundreds of readings to the unit's internal memory. One very nice bonus is that the Nextech gauges come with the software AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE with free updates! The software was very easy to install. (1. Install USB drivers, 2. install graphing software, 3. Connect the Nextech DFS unit, 4. then start the graphing software.)The force gauge has the ability to be operated with or without the included software, and although the gauge is effective and convenient on it's own, for my needs, I personally prefer, and enjoy using it with the included graphing software(even though I don't use excel.)There is a USB and a PS/2 output. The company has ISO accreditation and the force gauge is accompanied by a Nextech calibration certificate. The DFS user manual is supplied in hardcopy, PDF, and text formats.I had a few questions regarding the above and I was very impressed by the outstanding response and exceptional customer service from the company. The people that I corresponded with at Nextech were absolutely first-rate and I believe they will stand behind their products.

Device seemed to work but the display was very leggy and software came on a blank disc you would buy. Manual was just printed on paper folded in half.
