Tricky to use. Follow the instructions and make sure you install the siphon tube in the bulb when using it overhead. Don't overfill it. Difficult to control the amount of powder that comes out.

I bought this item because I have been fighting bed bugs, generously supplied by a neighbor who lived across the hall from me, for awhile now. I cannot afford the expensive remediation offered by pest control, so I buy diatomaceous earth and while messy, it seems to be working for the most part.If you've ever used diatomaceous earth- it is a messy powdery cloud that coats everything in a fine white dust. I was not happy with the other powder applicators as I don't like living in a dust bowl 😊.I saw this product while scrolling through Amazon and after reading reviews and watching a video, decided to give it a try. It was very affordable and came quickly. For me, the included funnel was useless, I was able to use the little plastic scoop the best. This applicator holds less than a cup of powder, but what it lacks in holding capacity. It makes up for in ease of use, less mess, and more targeted application of a very messy powder.I love it and wish I had known of it sooner.I recommend this product! 👍

My dog has vulvitus. I use this to dust corn starch onto the affected area, since she hates sprays and would probably lick off any topical ointments/creams. This allows me to "blow" a light poof of the powder from a few inches away... She barely even notices I'm applying something there. Since I've only used it for powder, I cannot speak on how well this would do for applying liquids.Materials are good quality and I believe this product will be durable. I love that they included a little removable straw so you can use it pointing upward if you'd like. They also sent a little collapsible funnel to make it easier to fill. As expected, the rubber part that you squeeze smelled like any new rubber item (I.e. tire or rubber dog ball)... It still felt clean and was not at all bothersome to me, but considering my application I gave it a wash with warm water and 2 drops of dish soap... The smell washed off well and the interior of the product dried faster than I expected.I got the black and gold... The gold tip with black rubber actually looks good... So yes, my dog's "Jina" duster is attractive enough for no one to notice it (I keep it next to the potted plants, so everyone just assumes it's for misting leaves haha). Since I need this handy for daily use, It's nice that it's not an eye sore.I appreciate the free little gifts with this (funnel, gloves, straw)... They didn't have to include these but they did and it shows they were thoughtful about their customers' many possible uses and wanted to make it easy for everyone to achieve what they needed.Im glad I found this, I didn't know if a versatile duster/applicator like this was even an option but I'm so glad it is. I have no complaints and I highly recommend this product, especially if you'll be using it for applying a dry powder.

Assembly was simple and straightforward. No instructions were needed, (nor included).Overall build quality -Sturdy metal and rubber materials. The metal pipe has metal threads on both side for a secure fit to the rubber squeeze bulb. The pipe is long enough that you can get through the canopy of the plant without disturbing it too much. The bent top area of the pipe is designed to reach under leaves, which is helpful.Funnel & plastic gloves -The collapsing funnel was a nice addition, but may not be best suited for this application. The diatomaceous earth can clump when scooping it in and the funnel has a very narrow lower section. This made getting a single scoop through it a series of constant tapping to keep things moving. Any kind of wooden or thin metal skewer could be used to stir/push the dust faster, or a wider funnel would likely erase this issue, since the rubber bulb has a very wide mouth. If you're not concerned with getting some of the dust on the outside of the bulb, just dump it straight in with the included scoop. I estimate you can get at least 8-10 scoops into the bulb. The single serving disposable gloves are the type used in fast food prep. If you're planning to use this duster with pest poison dust, I would want real gloves. On use -The first few blasts had mixed results. Sometimes large amounts would land in one spot and other times, a small whisp of dust would shoot in a broad area. This is sometimes due to the pressure of the squeeze but also how the dust is laid out in the bulb. There were a few times that a single leaf would end up completely caked in white powder and other times, smaller bits would be more scattered. With a little practice, the dust can come out in very fine bursts, but only if the dust is more toward the back of the bulb, away from the pipe. If this is what you're looking for, I suggest shaking the bulb to loosen the dust before a light squeeze. To dust the surrounding soil, I found that angling the bent tip parallel to the ground was a useful technique for good coverage.

Bought for an inside bug issue and now I may actually grow squash again. Who knew it could be so easy to dust hard to reach areas. I wish I would have bought 2!
