Got this for my 8 year old nephew who wants to be a chef when he grows up (he's tall and broad shouldered for his age, the size of most 12 year olds). He was so proud to wear a real chef's jacket! He wore it nearly all day on Christmas day and now goes and puts it on any time he helps out in the kitchen. It's very well-made and if it holds up to a kid's abuse, it surely will hold up for a professional in any kitchen!

Our "chef" loves this coat. It protects his clothes and is comfortable and nice-looking. The fabric is soft and crisp. The coat fit easily over clothing. This was a surprise gift from a group of us. The person we gave this to is a friend who loves to cook and fixes the main part of our Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. He wore it when we gave it to him; I hope he continues to wear it when he cooks!

Very good quality and good fit, the sleeves are long enough to roll up a bit and the material is heavy enough where the sleeves stayed rolled up. I like have my sleeves about 3/4 so it works well. For those that like, need a full length sleeve, they are weighted enough to stay put as well.

I'm 6 ft and 165lbs so I got a medium coat since that's what I usually wear, but this runs pretty large. Way too wide for a unisex coat, I'd had returned it or exchange it to size down, but I needed it right away so I kept it but Iooks like I have a ninja suit on me. Shoulders fit in place but the width is the down side on this item, same with the buttons that seem they are going to fall after a couple washes. Sleeves are also too long and the pockets on the left sleeve and wrongly placed, to close to the armpit towards the inside. It is an okay coat, not the best I've owned.

These are great! Everywhere else we have looked for black, long sleeve chef coats in a 3XL had them for well over $30 each. Then, on top of that, they were really thin and horrible quality. These Dickies ones are great! They are made of durable fabric that will withstand lots of laundering, wearing, and heat.

For starters, I'm 6'1 at 193 (need to lose 7lbs) that being said I figured an XL would be adequate. Man Was I wrong! This coat is HUGE!! I immediately went back to my childhood when I was 8 and tried to put on my Dad's shoes and shirt. What I think is happening is since our waistlines are getting bigger they've adjusted their sizes accordingly. For example: what use to be considered XXL is now XL..etc. I was thinking of downsizing to L but I think I may actually go to a Med. All in all though, I think the construction is top-notch and would probably last quite a while. The refund process was more than expected. All I wanted was to exchange, but I got a full refund and guess what? (Psst..I didn't even have to return the item). Not sure what i'm going to do with the XL but for anyone looking I think I have a great sail for sale.

I'd like to start this review by saying that I've always specifically sought out Dickie's clothing because of its quality. I own a farm in Maine and I've done everything from split firewood to herding goats in Dickie's. That being said, it stands to reason that I turned to Dickie's for my first chef's coat. I need 2 for work, so I ordered them with high hopes. Alas, old Dickie has tricked me. If I were marooned on an island, the first thing I would do is fashion a sail from the first coat and a tent from the second. If I were Rapunzel, I would shave my head into a badass mohawk and burn my sheets for warm while I turned these into a rope I could repel down Mount Kilimanjaro. Or, perhaps I could use these coats to pull the old switcheroo with a whale shark and get a day off. I believe that what I'm trying to illustrate is that these coats are massive. I'm a 200 lb athletic man and a medium has always been a snug fit right on the borderline with a large. I triple checked the tags to make sure they were mediums. I figured a medium might be small, but I think that Dickie's is assuming that all chef's who purchase this item are morbidly obese and equally in denial. I'd guess that this is an XL or maybe even a XXL for men with relatively tiny shoulders. Do not trust the size chart. Do not waste your time and money. I'm giving this 2 stars in the event that someone happens upon this looking for an amazing deal on DIY parachutes.

I have other Dickies stuff so I knew what to expect for sizing. I float between an XL and XXL depending on manufacturer, for Dickies I like XXL. I like to have enough room for a t-shirt underneath and a loose enough fit so I can move freely and get some air flow in the coat. It feels like the material will be durable enough to last as long as my other coats.
