So - I think it should be said that this Amp meter may be a bit small for any professional use - but I think it would serve the typical DIY-er well and be a decent addition for your toolbox if you are doing any type of electrical work that requires you to find out the usage of given appliances.Keep in mind that I am not an electrician, so do your due dilligence when researching this product and its use. I have found that it is pretty compact and it comes with its own storage case. The unit itself feels well made - although I would like to see the price point just a tad lower. The LCD readout is very easy to read in daylight hours. My grading scale:5 Stars = Knocks it out of the park, PERFECT BUY!4 Stars = Excellent find, you should definitely give it a shot.3 Stars = It works and functions as advertised.2 Stars = A little scary, but do your research and it may work out.1 Stars = Avoid this product and look elsewhere. All of my reviews are based on actual use of the product. I do not communicate with sellers and I am not compensated for positive or negative reviews - they are as honest as I can make them.

I don't need an amp-clamp often, but it is nice to have around. The auto ranging and fixed ranging work well. It seems accurate for the loads I'm pulling. Nice to verify that my wiring is appropriately sized. The auto ranging can be a bit small to read, when switch loads, i prefer the fixed mode.

Update: I finally found a screwdriver that was small enough and strong enough to open the battery compartment so I could use batteries. Like other reviewers, I mistakenly thought this meter would let me measure amperage going through different devices, however both a freezer and microwave measured in the microamp range, which doesn't help me. Maybe someday I will see if I can use it to find current leakage, but this unit is not what I wanted.Original review:I may update the review if I open the battery compartment to put batteries in so the unit could work. The Phillips head screw needs a very small screwdriver to fit in the hole to open it. The screw is in very tight and I am afraid the screwdriver I have will strip the screw head, so for now, I can't power up the device to put in batteries. Therefore I can't use it.

This clamp meter solves one problem, and solves it very well: it detects very low power in electric lines for alternative current or any signal that creates a variable electromagnetic field. It has very good sensitivity, as far as I could test with a signal generator, which seems to come at the detriment of value accuracy at the lower end of the range though. Unless my bench testing was flawed, the lower values seem boosted beyond the stated accuracy. Leak detector seems a better naming when it comes to low currents, though at higher current values it is indeed very accurate. Since the real value that this instrument offers is leak detection, I don’t see this accuracy behavior as an issue: all I need to know is whether there is a leak, and the magnitude may or may not be a factor, most likely not at real small values. The build looks a few notches above consumer-grade with the exception of the unexplainable tiny screw holding in place the battery compartment lid. The display is easily readable, and buttons work flawlessly. I really appreciate that is comes with a case, also an indication of the class for this instrument.

I was all set to do some home repair on my older doorbell system, when I realized I would need a clamp meter to measure current in a live line. Now, I am truly an amateur DIYer about home stuff, so I ordered this not exactly knowing what I would get, but knowing I would need this. Well, it worked just like the video said it would, it measured whether the wire had live current and whether it was leaking out somewhere. Rather small and simple tool, but when you need one, you need one. i would recommend this for any occasional electrical repair, or amateur DIYer like myself. It worked well for the one task I needed it to get a job done.

Every once in a while it is nice to have a current measuring meter. When I saw the SNAKOL digital AC leakage clamp meter I decided to give it a try.PIC1 (I have labeled each picture in the upper right corner because they never appear in the order I add them to the review) shows what you get. This includes instructions, a carrying case, the meter and 2 AAA batteries (they are already in the meter). The case has a pocket on the inside and is made out of a "stiff" material. It is a nice size and will fit into your pocket or tool belt. The meter can measure from .01 mA to 60 A. The three buttons are Hold, Range and Power. A short press of Range will switch the meter to manual mode and a long press to switch to auto range mode. A long press of Power (2 seconds) will switch on or off. A short press of Power in manual range mode will switch between the 5 measurement ranges (20mA/.01mA resolution, 200mA/.1mA resolution, 2A/1mA resolution, 20A/10mA resolution, 60A/100mA resolution) (it does this in descending order). The Hold button will hold the number being displayed.PIC2 is a close-up of the meter display so you can see the easy to read large digits. You can use the meter to measure the AC current in any wire. I built a short extension cord so that I can measure the current on either the power, neutral or ground and it is shown in PIC3. To use it I plug the extension cord into the wall and then plug the device being measured into the free end of the extension cord. I simply removed the extension cord outer insulation and bought a replacement plug for the end I cut off. Note I was careful not to remove the insulation on the wires. In PIC3 I would be reading the power current (black lead). If you are looking for a current meter you should consider the SNAKOL. It will get the job done!
