I don't have much to compare this against, but based on my testing the light reading seems accurate. The light meter properly adjusts the reading value as I move the meter away or closer to the light source. This light meter takes 2 AAA batteries and these are included. I would have preferred rechargeable but it's probably too much to ask for the low price. The buttons were a bit confusing for a newbie like me but once I read the manual the buttons made sense.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:Light Meter2 AAA BatteriesInstructionsMini Scew DriverPRODUCT/THOUGHTS:This is a pretty simple device. The model I’m using is the GC-5000A (Orange). The top part swivels so you can point the lumens tester at the light you’re checking. You simply do that, turn it on and it should default out of the box to real-time checking. You have a button so you can change the temperature setting as well from Celcius to Fahrenheit. There is a memory function as well so you can record down some data if you want. You also have a backlight that you can turn on so you can see the screen.Everybody will probably have different opinions when it comes to actually checking your lumens but the usual rule I was taught, was about 1 meter away from your light source. Always keep in mind a certain margin of error and the quality of your sensor will affect your readout along with all of the other ambient lighting in the area. It’s just how it is.I mostly use this to test lumens on security camera lights. Seems to usually be in the ballpark of what it should be. If I’m reading the box correctly, there is supposed to be a plus/minus 2% margin of error. Overall it’s been working for me. Readouts are easy to see on the display and super easy to use.
