Two years ago my 2002 DRZ 125 ate a valve and destroyed the piston. To rebuild it myself from OEM parts would have cost over $500. It was very cheap to rebuild with "big bore" kit from a non Amazon source. The big bore piston was not domed on the top like stock. The bike ran great, but was hard to start and something inside the top end occasionally made a clattering noise under strong acceleration over a jump. So I decided to get the BAOUFF Dirt Bike Cylinder Sleeve Piston Kit (stock piston and cylinder size). The piston in this kit was just like stock OEM. The result was very pleasing. Engine starts on second kick when cold. Engine is easy to kick over. Engine is quiet as a new bike. Power is good or better than stock. I am still in the "break-in" phase, but from all I can tell this is going to be a good solution, and a money saver. P.S. Don't buy any piston from any supplier that looks different on top from the stock, even if vendor says it is supposed to work with DRZ. Update: Got maybe 12 more hours on the engine and it starts and runs great.
