This is a great gift for any young girl wanting to make a journal her own. Or a young man, if he is into journaling. It comes with everything she would need to personalize it to her style. The age range recommended is pretty spot on. The paper is decent thickness but it is not lined. It comes with magnetic book marks and with paper clips, so she will never loose her place. Stickers galore, pens, even a little ruler. There isn't a lock or clasp on the journal. This makes a great gift.
