Worked for a noob. This is my first lighting rig. I was able to get it to control a smoke machine and some wall washer lights. A great starter tool.

The Metyonlaser "Dmx Controller Dmx Console,192CH Dmx512 Console Controller Panel Use For Editing Program of Stage Lighting Runing" is an entry level DMX controller. This particular unit came with a defective address button, and the no. 8 slider was noisy, meaning that the control would not stay on zero at the lowest position, and jumped around when moved up and down. The product uses a wall transformer with a low voltage cord to the controller. The panel has four "dimple" feet on the bottom, but no rubber bumpers to prevent it from sliding around on the work surface. The manual is of very little use, and this will present a challenge for inexperienced users. This unit is handy for testing fixtures, but I'm not sure I would want to put it to work at a party.

This DMX console is compact and functional. Like most of these improted DMX controllers the manual is not well writeen and hard to figure out, but the controller isn't overly complicated if you have any experience with similar products, works well enough for simple tasks.

This is a very compact rectangular DMX controller in a metal case. Good quality, and very basic but it can do a lot for what it is. One 3 pin XLR output on this unit is all you need to connect to all your lights, or just one if you want. Powered by an AC adapter which is included. If you have any experience at all with DMX controllers, this is basically the same and very easy to set up. There are instructions in the box to get you started and a lot of videos online for beginners as well. Most of these simple controllers are bigger but they do about the same thing. This little controller has 12 dedicated scanner buttons and 6 chase buttons with a blackout at the bottom right to quickly cut all lights if needed. There are 10 sliders, 8 of them with scene buttons and there are 23 banks for the 8 scenes that you can scroll between easily. 2 faders are for speed from 0.1 second up to 10 minutes and a 0-30 second fade time control. There are 192 total channels so you can control up to 12 fixtures with up to 16 channels each. Pretty good for such a compact unit. It works really well and although I only have 4 lights including 2 moving lights in my small setup, it was super easy to set up a few scenes and access them at a touch of a button and the scenes can be easily faded up or down once you call them up. Great for small clubs, theaters, or even homes looking to add some DMX controlled lighting. It's amazing what you can do with a unit this small and inexpensive.
