These dock rods are a bit confusing on how to use. It took some research and finally stumbling on a youtube video to see a great demo. These will not work well if you have a high-sided boat and approach a floating dock. Likewise, they won't allow you to tie a bass or ski boat to a seawall or fixed pier. These also won't work if dock cleats and your boat's cleats are nearly the same distance apart - your boat will just slide forward or to stern unless you cleat off a line from one end. It also won't work if the cleats on your boat are not within two feet of cleats on the dock. This may all sound confusing, but this review points out that there are a few instances where these dock rods will work great and many where you need to use traditional lines. If you deal with winds or light chop of the windward side of your dock, these dock rods will be worth their weight in gold (gel coat repair is expensive). These may also come in handy when rafting with other boats. These dock rods are priced appropriate and appear to be decent quality,.

I thought these dock rods were a great idea when I bought them. However there is a massive design flaw. These are basically a folded in half bungee cord that go through a hard tube. The problem I found was that there is actually no way to cinch them down. So as the boat moves around on the dock from current, another boats wake whatever the loop end of these actually slips off the dock cleat.I found this out the hard way. From the boat ramp to the parking lot where I used these was a good 5 minute walk, ( not including the time spent at the truck grabbing last minute things once parked)I launched my boat, tied to the dock, parked the truck, grabbed a couple things and walked to the dock. As I got to the dock my boat was already about 150 yards off the dock, with both of the dock rods still hanging off the cleats on the boat. Thankfully I was able to have another fisherman give me a ride to my boat as it floated away. The concept of these is great but the execution of the product is trash. You will need to devise some type of way to prevent to one loop from expanding and slipping off the cleat with the movement of the water pushing the boat towards the dock. Something as simple as a gear tie to keep the loop end tight around the cleat can help. But this is a huge design flaw the needs to be addressed before I would tell anyone to buy these

These are made well. No tearing issues. They work great. Help with docking my 20 ft. More than enough length as well. They are bigger than I expected and have good width to them. They are easy to store as well.

These boat dock rods have been a total game-changer for docking my 25’ pontoon, and I can’t recommend them enough. They’re ridiculously easy to use - literally anyone can grab one and help secure the boat, no experience needed - which takes so much stress out of the process. They work like a charm with most boat and dock cleats, and I’ve found them handy around dock posts too. The standout feature is how they keep the boat pushed away from the dock; I haven’t even bothered with fenders since using them, and my pontoon has stayed scratch-free.I’ll admit they’re not perfect for every docking situation - there are some tricky setups where they wouldn’t quite cut it - and I’m not thrilled about the metal hooks. I’ve had sketchy experiences with similar bungee hooks in the past (not these specifically), so I’d have preferred carabiners or something else, but that’s just me being picky. In my docking experiences, they’ve been flawless, and those minor critiques don’t count. They’re simple, effective, and make docking a simple thing, particularly for those folks who may not have a lot of experience with docking a boat.

I’m very split on these. At first I did not think the design would work, and when I initially tested it did not. I watched a video on YT and saw how to use them. These will only work on cleats that have a big enough gap in the middle for the bungee hooks to fit through the center and your boat cleats have to line up to the dock. I tried 3 different docks and only one had the right cleat, yet they did not line up with boat and my boat is taller than the dock and very hard to stretch. For a bass boat this would probably work better vs a wakeboard boat.

I have high hopes for these Dock Rods! The tube feels solid, no worries there. The shock cord and hooks are stout and reasonable for this application. And the rubber end cap has a bit of spring to it, and is also very robust. I have to assume that the manufacturer intends these rods to be used with spring lines to keep the boat from moving forward or back, and touching the dock. Safe assumption, I hope. Anyway, I think between our ski boats when we raft up and at dock, these are a very, very interesting implementation. They're no move expensive than a good fender! Good job, Dock Rods!

These Dock Robs provide a convenient means of securing your boat to a dock or another boat in lieu of using bumpers. They hook to the cleaks on your boat and the dock and keep your boat a comfortable distance from the dock thereby preventing it from scraping along the dock. The internal rope keeps the boat from moving away from the dock and the rubberized center keeps it from running into the dock.Probably designed more for the recreational, week-end boater than a seasoned skipper that has been tying up their boat for many years. But for someone that struggles getting the fenders out (finding them), aligning them the right distance and tying them to the boat and dock...these rods will simplify their boating experience.Be careful not to pull too hard on the hook-end of the rod, you can pull the rope through its hole. Then you'll be faced with fishing the rope back through the rod ( I speak from experience).
