I am a dog breeder of a toy breed. We used to use newspaper to line their potty area, but I hated how dirty it was and that it would leach ink onto their feet.A couple of years ago, another breeder I know suggested pine bedding pellets in a litter box. This has been life changing as it smells really clean and only needs to be changed once a day, no chemicals near my babies, their feet stay clean, it feels a lot like dirt, and they seem to be training to the outside potting so much faster.The downside to pine bedding pellets is that the Mama dogs seem to love them too. Lol. They roll in them, dig in them, and fling them everywhere. When I saw this litter pan I was fascinated by the idea, bedding pellets in a litter pan that keeps the pellets in the box!! Sign me up!!So, I have only had this for one day as of right now. I will come back and edit my review after I have used it for a while.My thoughts so far. I love the overall design. The grate thing on top doesn't sit on some little plastic pieces like I was worried about. It's solid. It sits on the floor of the litter box with legs that fit snugly into the box.The grate is solid and sturdy. No flex when they walk on it. The poop drops between the grates perfectly as they are far enough apart that it doesn't stay on top.The pan is made of plastic, and seems solid and sturdy. And the bonus of the scooper was really nice as well.The only reason I did a four star instead of a five-star is that the grates are a little too far apart, and my puppy's feet slip into them every once in awhile. When they're walking on it. It's not really a big deal, but if they had put a cross brace across in a couple more sections, it would have made cleaning it a little more frequent, but it would have given them better footing on it. It probably wouldn't be an issue for an older puppy, and it definitely wouldn't be at the issue if you had younger puppies of a larger breed on it. But I am so impressed by this thing. I'm so excited to have it. And I will be updating my review after we've used it for like a month or two.So far so good. And I definitely would recommend this for someone who does dog breeding. My puppies are happy, my mama dog isn't throwing bedding pellets everywhere which makes a disaster of my house, and their pen is much cleaner because they're not winging pine pellets all over their blankets.
